Ok folks, been a long time, no see on the forums. Sorry but some .... went down, which made me not so content. But while I was not so content, I started building harder to keep my mind and hands occupied. So here it is - my very FIRST super sub-ohm build. And yes, it was a PAIN IN THE ... to build. But the effects it has is INSANE! 15 drops = 3 hits total. And I have to be careful with it, as I was nic'd out after about 6 hits @ 3mg on a 70/30 VG/PG blend:
Everybody should know what that coil is - it's a 3 wrap Sleeper / Parallel Coil. 1 piece of 24G Kanthal A1 used to wrap 2 coils. It hits like a tank, it's hot as hell, and yes I DID have to drill larger holes in my Patriot top cap to keep it cool. I had to turn the center post just slightly to tidy up the coils on both sides too. So, with that being said - let me tell you what I learned about all of that:
First thing's first - it's a ..... to wrap a coil like that with 1 piece of wire. It just is, granted I could have bought some G Plat wire to do it, but I'm not spending that kind of money on wire right now.
Secondly - it's dangerous as hell. Granted, I accepted the risks of building it, but if my battery decides to blow up in my face, that's on me.
Third - resistances this low generate A LOT of heat, and for those of you that know anything about me or read my previous posts, know that I like a warm to hot vape. I just do. But this thing generates INSANE heat. Which is why if you build a coil like this - GET YOURSELF A GOOD RDA WITH SOME GOOD AIRFLOW! YOU'LL NEED IT! The top cap on my Patriot V1.2 (deck shown in picture) had to have the holes drilled out to compensate and cool off the inside of the chamber. Also note, the heat generated in the atomizer DOES spread to the mod, and I use a V3tronix Flip with the solid pin. And my mechanical gets HOT! Granted, it probably is my battery too, but again, from what it feels like, it's the heat radiating off the RDA. Because I checked, checked, checked again, and rechecked for shorts - there are none. So BE CAREFUL WITH THESE KINDS OF SETUPS!
Fourth - I'm not going to write a tutorial on HOW I came up with the idea or even WHY I chose to do this - it wasn't JUST for the clouds. The clouds are a perk of building this - but the reason I built it, was for the nicotine. The lower the nicotine the hotter I need it to run. As with all of the stuff going on in my life - I picked up smoking again. I don't like cigarettes but at the same time, the vaporizer just wasn't cutting it. Even at 24mg - the nicotine just didn't seem to be there. So I built this.
