Ive been smoking "analog" cigarettes since i was about 14. Once I turned 18 I began smoking upwards of a pack day. I'm 23 years old now and have been smoking for nearly a decade of my short life. I prefer to smoke American Spirit Lights, but also like the occasional Marlboro Red. I had been aware of PVs previous to ever trying one, but considered them pretty much a novelty, having only seen cheaply produced, and consequently poorly functioning units. A few days ago however I was visiting a friend of mine who said he had completely substituted his smoking habit with an e-cigarette. He let me give it a go and I was pretty surprised at the decent throat hit, and nicotine satisfaction that I got from it. He had purchased his for $40 at the gas station he manages. I forget the name of it (I'll find out). The same day I found myself in my local smoke shop, DJ's to be specific if you're from AZ, trying to find my own e-cig. The only brand they carry is Crown Seven being as it is a local company I assume. The Hydro unit kit was $89.95 and the pen style was $69.95. The sales guy assured me that the Hydro unit functioned as well as an analog cigarette, and that each cartridge was equivalent to 15-20 cigarettes. I ended up purchasing the Crown Seven Hydro and a few extra cartridges. Upon arriving home I couldn't wait to charge and try out my new toy. I decided to look up there website while I was waiting and was pretty disappointed to see that I had over payed $35: Crown Seven is currently selling the Hydro online for $55. My next stop was the ECF forums as they had some Crown7 reviews. Needless to say I was pretty horrified at what I found about the $100 dollar purchase including tax that I had just made. If I thought I could return it I would try. Maybe I just need to go down to the store and get irate with the manager. But I digress. The sales guy had warned me to allow each battery to charge for 24 hrs. So the next day I got to try it out. I screwed it all together, and put on a new cartridge. I went to take a drag AND... nothing happened. I have to draw so hard on it to get it to ignite, I get dizzy just trying to get one drag before the cutoff kicks in. Not to mention this causes 3/4's of the juice to come out in your mouth. Even though it was pretty crappy I figured I'd give it a chance for a few days, or until my cartridges ran out. I was also pretty steamed to find that each cartridge might be the equivalent of 3-4 cigarettes, and that's being generous. So having learned a hard lesson, I began to peruse online for a new e-cig. Another friend of mine had found a J 108 where he works and sold it to me yesterday for $5. I assumed I would be able to find a charger and carts for it online. The atomizer looked amazing to me so I thought it was a good buy. Come to find accessories for the J 108 are almost non-existant unless you live in China. So yesterday I decided upon a Joye 510 after much research. I was considering buying one from Cignot, but thought it strange they don't give you the box. I guess its to save paper and shipping costs? I ended up buying a kit from ecigsupply.com as they are based in AZ. And a couple of bottles of 24mg e-juice from myPVshop.com up in NV. Both should arrive within the next couple days. What should I expect? Any questions, comments, or concerns are greatly appreciated.

Had emailed Crown7 last night. Just got a response:

The Dj's Salesman is wrong. Our Hydro cartridges are equal to 10 cigarettes not a pack. And if you could send us the faulty atomizer and battery we will send you some new ones. Please include a letter stating you want these switched out and put your mailing address in. Please mail to the address below. Or if you want you can come in our office to switch them out.

Thank you,
CROWN7

I initially bought your product at DJ's smoke shop in Chandler. I had been looking for an e-cig for quite a while, trying to find an alternative to "analog" cigarettes. The sales guy in the shop explained the concept pretty well. I was told that each cartridge was the equivalent of approximately a pack of cigarettes. I ended up purchasing the Hydro for $89.95 on 2/20/10. I also got some extra High potency cartridges. When I arrived home I looked up your website while the batteries were charging and it was pretty disappointing to see that I had over payed by $35. I don't plan on shopping at DJ's smoke shop again actually. The reason I'm writing though is that my e-cig is not working very well. I allowed each battery to charge for about 18 hrs before i used them. One is completely dead, but the other works really well. The only problem is that i get very little vapor. I mean I get practically no vapor to come out before the automatic timer kicks in. I also have to inhale pretty hard to get it to activate. I think the atomizer may be faulty. Is there anyway to remedy this? I also found that each cartridge is no where near the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes. I might give it 2-3 cigarettes maximum if half the juice didn't spill out. I really want to give your product a chance as you're a local company, but from all accounts I've heard and my own limited experience with your product, I feel pretty swindled. Please help! I want my e-cig that I just bought and payed quite a bit of money for to work properly! Thanks

My reply:

I actually returned it to the store just now. I wanted a refund but he just exchanged it for a new one. I don't plan on opening it really. If I do though, and have any problems I'll be sure to let you know. I have already ordered a Joye 510, and am pretty amazed at the little racket you guys and DJ's smoke shops have going. How can they sell it for $35 more than it is advertised online? The manager tried to tell me it was import costs? I wasn't aware there was an import fee inter-state. The cartridges are no where near 10 cigarettes. Maybe 4 max if half the liquid didn't spill out. I'm pretty dissatisfied with your product overall. Ill be sure to share my experience with friends, family and anyone else who will listen. From what I've read online at places like E-cigarette Forums, I'm not the only one to have major problems with your product.

Welcome thakron! Sorry to hear about your first bad experience but be prepared to have a great second one with the 510! I would certainly purchase some extra batteries and atty's. I know that the PCC is a must for myself, because I am always on the go so that is one item I would also suggest. Don't forget to blow your atty's out before your first vape. After you blow them out, fill the cart, put a drop or two of eliquid on the bridge of the atty and then for about the first 5 or so hits, don't inhale, just draw into your mouth and blow out. This will give the atty a chance to burn off any residue from the primer. Other than that, enjoy and Good Luck! Give us a post once you get your 510 and let us know what you think!

Im a 510 vapor and I love it!!!! Everyone here on the boards have thier own favorites, but i dont think you can go wrong with any that you hear about from the users here. Cignot.com Those Ladies rock, The nicest and easiest people i have dealt with :) i get all my 510 hardware from them.

Um i started out kinda like you I paid way to much for my Smoke 51 trio from the Mall Rats, When i first got it I hated it, But i also didnt know how to use , Besides being over priced and at the time me being totally noob'ish to vaping, the smoke 51 one is pretty darn good once i got the attie broke in. But im hooked on my 510 right now.
welcome to the group

Welcome! Feel for you on the bad go with the C7's (Dr. E's study anyone? But I digress) - but..they did get you here and lookin' for something better - and it's on its way :) I'm sure your experience with the 510 will be much better, but do heed the wisdom in posts above esp. lightinup :) Any issues, this place is like 24/7 tech support that's always friendly. Incredible. Happy vaping!

Welcome to the forum! Read up on how to use the 510 because there is a definite learning curve. FYI - any retailer selling from a brick and mortar store will be much more expensive due to their overhead costs (employees, insurance, cost to lease the space etc)
Some places do not have their e-cigs in boxes to help reduce your cost so don't worry about that, just make sure to find a reputable vendor (there's a whole slue of them in the supplier section of the forum). Best wishes!
