Here's some eye candy for everyone. Since MV is such an awesome supplier, I thought I post some pics of one of the mods I built using parts from MV. Should have taken a picture inside the cap before I JB welded it to the body, but it was beautiful how well everything fit. Wasn't fun to solder though. And yes, that is a C&K 3amp switch, same one used in the RS. I built this to use stacked 3v CR2s... haven't tried it yet, bc one of the batts I got gave me a dead reading on the multi, but MV is taking care of it, :2cool: Otherwise, a 14500 fits nicely. Also, I used the spring from an old RS v.1 I had that quit working for the bottom cap.

Awesome! I couldn't see them in the pic. That sure is shiny! are you going to clear coat it to keep the shine or let steam punk out?
There are 2 drilled in the bottom cap. Can't remember what size though. I think they were 1/4". Plus the cap only threads on to the first 1 or 2 threads... so if anything did happen, it would probably blow out the cap instead of exploding.

Ran into one issue with this guys. I thought I had a faulty connector bc some of my cartos wouldn't even feed onto the threads... not to mention it just looks strange for a 510. I think I have come to the conclusion that someone sent me a 4081 by mistake... Kind of PO'ed. I checked and checked w/ the multi, then I wiggled the carto over to the side of the connector and voila! It's too wide to be a 510 so the cartos aren't getting a good ground. Now I have a pretty awesome mod, with a connector that I won't use. Do they make 3ohm 4081 stuff? lol JB weld won't break loose easily

Absolutely! The more the merrier. I will tell you up front, the most time consuming part of the mod was drilling the hole for the switch. Use WD-40 as a lubricant, but it will take a little time. Once you get the hole thinned out, use a smaller bit to drill through that until you break through. Then you can come back with the size bit you need to ream it out and a small file always helps.

I was afraid someone would ask.. I really should have paid more attention. See, I had to literally take this connector and batteries with me to Menard's and fit pieces together right there in the store. I can tell you that the pipe is a 3/8" x 2-1/2". I pretty much didn't have a choice as the top cap for this tube was the only one that would give such a nice size to fit the connector in. The top cap (I believe) is a 3/8" barbed nipple or adapter used to connect a rubber hose onto a larger pipe fitting. I would have loved to do a bigger batt mod, but the bigger the tube, the larger the adapters get... it's weird. You should be able to get an adapter for any size, but apparently that's not how things work in the plumbing world.

Like I said, you may just have to take pieces with you until you find the perfect match. It was a pain, but the final product turned out nice.

Oh and you should be able to find a nylon washer and use a 6D size nail for the + contact. The nylon washer I found was just perfect to hammer in with a screwdriver, then I literally sealed it with a bead of JB weld all around the outer diameter. You then cut the nail down, "attempt" to solder your + wire to it, then place a few pieces of shrink wrap over the connection to hold the nail and wire in place. After that, you can have all the fun you want filling in that space with hot glue.
