Thanks Warp and many members in this modder forum for ideas and many good info s, suggestions, links...

Here are what I have learned and made for myself few mods: 3.7v, 4.8V and 5V PT using RCA adaptor with the switch.

Feel free to tell what do you think about these devices!

Nick

Nice. very shiny.. What did you use to make the tubes? anyhting off the shelf, or did you mill them up your self? Also how are the tiny switches in the rca adapter holding up for you, do they fail frequently?

Jason

The Tube was a Cigar Tube bought off Ebay about $10 shipped. It's about 1" diameter, 7" 1/2 long. I cutted in two to make that two mods no threaded on the tube, I had to make an Acrylic bottom cap with 2 venting tunnel on the side of the cap for safety and also 18650 protected batts.
I've been using those RCA with tactile switches (rated 50ma 12VDC) for about 1 1/2 month now (3ml a day vaping), no prolem or failing at all, has no voltage or current effect. The first RCA adaptor I made was with this switch SPST 1mS/5VDC Wired Detect Switch - RadioShack.com
(rated 5VDC 1A) but after tested with these Tactile switches , found that they work just the same, I like the Tactile more.

I've been searching for a really tiny slide or rotary - 3 positions switch to put in my 4.8V mod above so I can have 3.7v and 4.8V . Anybody find the switch please give me a link !

Nick

Thanks

Those Double Tubes are cool too, you can make that for dual atts or 2 diff model adaptors
side by side, 1 momentary switch for activation and 1 slide 3 postions(ON-On) switch) for switching between 3,7V and 5V.Using 2X18650 in parallel and you need to use this PTN04050C you can get it free from TI (I got 2 from TI, I love this convertor, it doesn't even get warm, very efficient, no Resister just a 100uF cap required) . I would suggest Do Not use the 5V regulator in these tubes- too much Heat . Also when you put the batt's adaptors on the Tube, should have a hardplastic ring stay between the tube and the adaptor to prevent heat tranfer from hot atts-- My 4.8V mod got a little warmed when I constantly vape for a while, and I dont think that would be good for my batt so I plan to do that as well. I may get one of that DOUBLE for me soon lol

***One thing you need to know: that MOD gonna be heavy, and you may need to make a cap or cut and dremel the tube - hardest part for this mod.

Nice one, looks very slick!

That's also a good idea I put into practice. Winter is close so I'll make one connected directly to capture the heat from the atty to keep the batts warm. Lithiums don't like it when it's cold.

Thank you Crashtestjeep, Ceasar , J0ker !!!

nick76,

Could you give us a bit more info on this switch please?

Smonomo, The Switch rated only 50ma 12VDC , 6mmX6mm X 9.5mm. It works as good as my other switch in RCA I made (1A 5VDC). Me and my brother have been using them 1 1/2month with no issue .

If you want to know how to make that RCA-Tactile switch adaptor, you can buy those male RCA ( in the picture) and Tactile switch at RS or on Ebay alot cheaper and epoxy. You can follow Dan's technique here , http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-pvma-no-more-worries-batt-connectors-14.html
I did a little different way without the need of a PC board. I'm still waiting for more tactiles switches , when they get here I will make few more adaptors for the 801 , so I can take pix n post here for more detail how do I make it.

After a month waiting for shipping, finally i got the flash light from DX. just made a 5V Mod for my new 801 atts, using DC-DC booster PTN04050C ,a 100uf Cap, RS switch, 801 batt adaptor from Nerf , single CR123A 880mah protected batt.

The flashlight use its body for ground but that did not work well for my Mod so I had to run a wire to the end cap for ground contact. This time i wired positive lead to switch then to the Booster, I remove all the pins that came attatched to the board, soldered the Cap and wires direct on the board to get thing fit inside. Here are some pix.

Here are some details pix for My previous 4.8V Mod, now remod it to 5V (no diode) for the 801, I love the 801 taste at 5V, I prefer 510 at 3.7 mod so. In case some one want to make some thing similar can have a better idea. please be excused for my poor ESL can't explain everything, I let the pictures do the jobs!
