If you're one of the millions on "government assistance," you're welcome.

If you're a citizen of one of the dozens of countries receiving "foreign aid" from the USA, you're welcome. Or at least, your current warlord in power is welcome.

If you've never paid INTO the system and still think it owes you something, I strongly disagree.

My household is NOT receiving a refund. The tax code was kind enough to specify that we had to send over 500 more dollars to the IRS. We are not a rich family. Lower middle class, at best. We want for nothing that we need. I work two jobs. My wife works one and puts in lots of OT. Everything we have, we have earned. What we have been compelled to give up so it can be given away willy-nilly is enough to make me start this totally inappropriate thread in a subforum designated for the Rolls Royce of PV's.

Oh well, we still have our dignity.

Rhaps, go ahead and moderate me. I won't take offense. I just felt the need to vent.

Vent away Mudflap and yes it was freakin painful. Hell between NY and the Feds I shelled out over $35K. What really irked me is that after all that I had to write a check for $16 since I underpaid NY. Even with my wife and I both claiming zero for withholding. On top of it I had the added luxury of paying $4.01 per gallon to drive the damned thing to the post office. Well as nerak stated I am pounding my reo mini with DIY juice and nic that I did not pay taxes on nor did I claim it as a non taxed internet purchase, so suck on that taxman!

Just think, GE didn't pay a cent.

No corporation, or company pays any taxes. If company A makes gumgwas and sells them for $100, and the price of widgets that go into them go up $10, they will now charge $110 to you. If their taxes goes up $10 also they charge you $120. Don't you wish you could adjust your income when your tax bill went up?? LOL

And THAT is the reason we can't have "tort reform." Get rid of the possibility of punitive damages, and it becomes really easy to calculate how much it's going to cost to kill a few people and add it into the cost of the product. Sorry, it's the lawyer in me talking (and I usually do defense :))

I'm with you, Mudflap.....it disgusts me ALL the time, but it is PARTICULARLY disgusting on tax day! And...one of my little private snickers is when I also totally ignore the line on the return where my state wants me to tell them how much on-line purchasing I've done and to volunteer how much MORE money I think I owe them for the "use tax" (that's what it's called in Oklahoma) on those internet purchases. Over my dead body. If I really added it up and reported it to them (HaHaHaHa) this year, I'd probably owe more "use tax" than I have savings because this year half of my income went to someone on the internet. LOL.

Mudflap will know where I am going with this. But it is based on property taxes rathe than income taxes.

In the county that we live, there is a statute that allows for much lower property taxes if you keep at least 1 livestock. This allows for a heavy reduction in said property taxes. About 3 weeks ago, there was a police officer that was killed by a bull that had be lightly hit by a vehicle and was just laying in the road, when to officers got to the scene, they exited the car and approached the bull. One of them was looking around trying to figure out where the bull came from, and suddenly the bull was on his feet and charged the officer-hitting him in the chest. That officer did later die from the injuries he sustained from this. The sad thing is-they still havent figured out who actually owns the bull. I am making an assumption here-but would guess that many are keeping livestock when not prepared for what care for them entails. Why not just keep all the taxes at a reasonable level, rather than force people to find loopholes to avoid excessive taxes. The whole ordeal was pretty sad for those of us around here. As are taxes.

GE got a REBATE!
Making lightbulbs and building reactors is just a sideline, their tax accounting department generates revenue by using the IRS to collect money directly from consumers, no sales necessary!

Moral of that story is the Officer should have shot the damned bull. People in this country take care of and for damned animals more than they do for their offspring. JMHO

Cheers,
otpru

I work for the same agency as the officer that died as a result of severe head trauma after having been struck by the injured cow. I can't comment on the incident objectively.

He was a good guy.
