My intention was not to quit smoking. But these things are better than cigs...

At the tobacco shop near me they have had these Lotus e-cigs. I bought a couple because I was driving my wife's car for a while and she hates me smoking in it. These Lotus e-cigs taste fantastic and now I am considering ditching cigs for an e-cigarette.

These disposables do hit me pretty hard in the throat and make me cough almost every time. I understand this is common to new vapor smokers. My question is, does nicotine level have something to do with the cough effect? These Lotus cigs are 18mg. Stronger than the ultra light cigs I smoke now -no choice as they don't have the 11mg strength in stock.

Anyway, this site has been a wealth of knowledge. I am ordering a volt due to things I have read here.

I understand these aren't really made to quit smoking, but honestly, they are so pleasant, they in some ways surpass burning tobacco. It would be a pleasant surprise to stop cigarettes even though that was not my intention. I do love smoking. Sad but true.

Be careful! I also had no intention to quit smoking. I was just looking for a solution for weekends when I'm home with my kids and I don't want to give them bad example. I started with Joyetech eCab, combining e-cig with rolled cigs (no filter). After 4 months of vaping I almost stopped smoking. I still have 1 pack of Javaneese Jongens black tobacco I bought about 3 months ago and finally I don't like cigarette taste! After 20 years of smoking I prefer juices with fruit flavours or cookies. That's crazy as I hated menthol cigs or cigars with flavours. In vaping I started with tobacco flavours and quickly switched to menthol, then fruits and I'm crazy about caramel, cinnamon and liquorice now :)

I believe many of us have started like you did, wanted to see what this e-cig funny business is all about and happen to accidently stop smoking for good because this satisfies our cravings so well. As said above, you probably WON'T quit if you don't really want to, but it would be easy with this new thing you discovered.

We tend to call it vaping, as we aren't really smoking. Also as said above, nicotine level does increase what we call 'throat hit' as well as the PG mixture of the e-juice that's used in the e-cig.

Stick with it! The volt is a nice little cigarette looking PV (personal vaporizer) but once you start getting used to it, and reading more around the forums, you're definitely want to take it to the next level and purchase something like an eGo, or maybe even spend a little more money and buy a variable voltage device such as a VAMO or Provari.

Just be careful! The only thing I regret about this habit is how addicted I've gotten to the gadgets and new flavors that I MUST have for some silly reason. Which, compaired to the health issues of smoking cigarettes or dipping, is not a big problem. :)

Stick with it, I love vaping and am glad I took that first step, if you have any questions the people here love to help newbies so ask away. GJ getting that foot in the door and stick with it!

I had no intention of quitting either. I just picked up one to see how far the technology had come over the last few years. It took about 6 weeks before I had my last cancer stick. It's been over 4 months since I quit and I don't see any reason to go back.

Just remember there are a lot of flavors out there to try once you get past needing that tobacco taste.

Part of it likely the way youre "vaping" them. Try holding the vapor in your mouth for a 3-5 seconds before inhaling instead of inhaling directly into your lungs like most do with cigarettes.

It will help a lot with the harshness. Some people dont even inhale into the lungs preferring the mouth hits.

My intention was to quit smoking and instead vape forever, but I just realized today that I can go 10 hours without a vape and not feel anxious. I'm at 18mg, so this is surprising. I still have no intention of quitting vaping yet, though.

New guy here....first post!
I just started seriously thinking about experimenting with e-cigs a couple of days ago....haven't taken my first hit yet.

I'm smoking marlboro reds now and last night i ordered a starter kit from apollo that's the next to the strongest "tobacco" flavor they offer. I also went with the "manual" battery rather than the auto version.

To you experienced folks, how' my first choice?

Looking forward to the vaping experience and seeing where it takes me..

Hi and welcome! You should probably start your own thread to get direct attention. Blue_Caterpillar_Emoticon_by_IMCullen.gif

I suspect you're right........gotta get my five posts out of the way somehow though. This is part of my new hobby now, learning the ropes around here!

No you don't. You can start a thread in the New Members forum without any posts. You need 5 to post in other sub-forums.
