My intention was not to quit smoking. But these things are better than cigs...

At the tobacco shop near me they have had these Lotus e-cigs. I bought a couple because I was driving my wife's car for a while and she hates me smoking in it. These Lotus e-cigs taste fantastic and now I am considering ditching cigs for an e-cigarette.

These disposables do hit me pretty hard in the throat and make me cough almost every time. I understand this is common to new vapor smokers. My question is, does nicotine level have something to do with the cough effect? These Lotus cigs are 18mg. Stronger than the ultra light cigs I smoke now -no choice as they don't have the 11mg strength in stock.

Anyway, this site has been a wealth of knowledge. I am ordering a volt due to things I have read here.

I understand these aren't really made to quit smoking, but honestly, they are so pleasant, they in some ways surpass burning tobacco. It would be a pleasant surprise to stop cigarettes even though that was not my intention. I do love smoking. Sad but true.

I loved smoking too, but I have found I love vaping more. I hope you keep vaping. Good luck.

See, I went with e cigs to quit. I had even switched to menthols from Marlboro lights a month or so ago, thinking that when I went back to the MLs I would be grossed out enough to just quit. Good idea in theory, but didn't work in practice. I ordered flavors that weren't tobacco when I got my V2, thinking that it would prevent me from wanting a tobacco taste...but I found that even the tobacco flavors resemble the smell of tobacco more than the actual taste of an analog. So it's a win-win! I ordered some juices from EC and AIV this week and can't wait to try them out. One week of having an e cig and I already want to upgrade to a bigger battery with some clearomizers. Been reading forums (I have the rest of the week off for holiday break still) like it's my job.

Part of it likely the way youre "vaping" them. Try holding the vapor in your mouth for a 3-5 seconds before inhaling instead of inhaling directly into your lungs like most do with cigarettes.

It will help a lot with the harshness. Some people dont even inhale into the lungs preferring the mouth hits.

I have read that, but not the hold for 3 to 5 seconds part. Seems to help a little bit.

Sounds like I am not alone in my opinion. I bought a few e-cigs to get me over the hump while driving the wife's car, not only did I like them, but the wife says the smell is wonderful. I highly recommend trying the lotus if you need a disposable. The original flavor is delightful. But as I have started using e-cigs I quickly realized disposables are expensive. Hence the volt I ordered. I had a $50 gift card, so I ordered a kit and extra sampler after applying a coupon. Burned all but 50 cents of the card, but I have a good started kit to experiment with.

I know cigarettes are bad, but loved it so much. I cannot believe I prefer vapor, or at least want to use vapor over smoke. It is quite a surprise to me. Guess I got lucky finding a good e-cig out of the gate. I am hoping the volt is at least as good.

I had my last analog cig on my birthday, October 20th. I started off with some of those "disposable" ones, logic, surreal, etc, and they worked for a couple of months, but they wound up costing almost as much as the pack of marlboro lights that I was buying daily. I got my first starter kit a couple of weeks ago, ego mini, and its good for now.

Good luck to you, read the reviews, check things out, and hope that it all works out!
