So..i got me a new kbox today..got the batteries to go with it. I am using puff e 1.2 juice. Thing is when i put it past 8 watts. I get a serious burnt taste. I am using a basic tank with 2.2 ohm pre bought kanger wicks..why am i getting such a harsh burnt taste? Do i need lower ohms? Thanks for any and all help.

I would guess that with the tank you are using and the 2.2 ohm coils you're close to using the max power they can handle before they burn up. If you're turning up the power to try and get a better vape, you're probably going to need to get a better tank. The k box I believe can handle 40 watts of power, so a Nautilus Mini is what I would recommend. Even with the Nautilus, you won't be needing over 15 watts or so. There are people who use it at lower watts like 10 or 12 but the tanks coils are 1.6 and 1.8 ohm VERTICAL coils and provide a much better vape than what you're probably using. Just because the mod (Kbox) can push more power doesn't mean you have to use it. I have a 150 watt mod and haven't gone over 30 watts yet. You can only vape to the ohm size in the coil and what they can handle.

+1 on what @Sir2fyablyNutz said. But in the meantime see below.

If you are getting a burnt taste (we call those "dry hits"), if usually means your wick cannot pull the eliquid fast enough to keep up with your battery. There are a couple of things you can do:

1. Dial down your wattage/voltage. This will vaporize the eliquid at a slower rate.
2. Decrease the airflow, if your tank has adjustable airflow. The decrease in airflow will increase vacuum inside the tank's atomizer, which should increase the flow of juice to the wick..
3. Take a sharp draw (or two) on your drip tip (without engaging your battery). This will pull more eliquid into the coil so that it will be available when you press the battery button and take a draw.

You will get the feel of this over time and develop a sense of how often you will need to do this to avoid "dry hits". The PG/VG ratio of your eliquid also comes into play, as VG is thicker than PG . If you use high VG try adding a few drops of distilled water to your tank to thin out the eliquid.

My kbox (40w) works great on my kayfuns, ego one tanks, subtank at 8 watt or 13 watt. I really don't go higher than that. However, when I put on an adapter and an older evod, pt2 mini, or similar tank, 8 watts is too high...they often taste burnt. I use a 1.8 ohm coil mostly. These older tanks are usually run at 6-7 watts on an ego style battery, so I suspect that 8 watts is just too much for them. Unfortunately 8 watts is the lowest setting on my kbox 40w.

Shame i didnt read up more on it..but i got the kbox for 19.99 which was a great price. Never thought nothing about the batteries.

You're probably fine with that battery and the low power you are using. It's when you really start to push a battery with power that you need to be careful. It's also recommended to use a separate battery charger to charge the batteries instead of using the USB port (if the kbox has this feature). If you don't have a charger I wouldn't recommend charging it over night while you sleep. Most battery failures occur during recharge. Nitecore has a 2 bay i2 charger for around $10 if you shop for it.

From the picture, it appears you have a Kanger pro tank 2. The prebuilt heads for these are notoriously bad, and when these were more popular, many people (including myself) had to drill them out for better air flow.
Luckily the heads are easily rebuildable. Ton of videos both here and YouTube, if you are so inclined.
If your budget can take it, I would recommend a new tank.
Most manufacturers are a few generations past the Protank 2. I would recommend looking at a Kanger Subtank. Similar design, but has adjustable air flow and better replaceable heads.

Will the air flow control valves help ive seen those on ebay for three bux
I personally never used one, but others have said they do. If you look closely at the 510 connection on the bottom of your tank, you will see two very small holes drilled at the top of the threading. That is where the air draws through the clearomizer over the coil. They are very small.
The grooves on the bottom cap are so you can get air flow. Some mods have grooves or a gap and are more friendly to the Protank. Some have deeper threads and a flat top and are not.
I believe your mod has a smooth top and hence may be restricting the air flow. This can mess up the vacuum and cause a dry wick.

I took it apart found the three tiny holes and used a bread tie to clean them out somewhat. My tanks actually have the grooves that match up with the pre cut ones on the kbox. I added some extra glycerine and a couple drops of water to my juice..while not quite the cloud ive been looking for there was a much better one not nearly as harsh. Thanks a million for everyones helps and tips.

So...Im back...lol...Fixing to buy new batteries as the ultra fire ones really suck, besides I didnt realize until now I need flat top batteries instead of button top. Now I found sub tank mini's for a great price too! I am just not sure what type of OCC coils or what ever to get..So confused on this subject..lol Having a major blonde moment here. What sub ohms are recommended?

With the Subtank Mini you have 3 choices. The newer OCC coils are vertical coils and come in .5 ohm and 1.5 ohm Vertical coils. The older OCC coils are horizontal and come in .5 and 1.2 ohm coils. Either will work. I usually vape my .5 ohm coils/build between 20 and 25 watts. I vaped the 1.2 and 1.5 at between 15 and 20 watts.

You will also find (nickel) NI .15 ohm coils for the Subtanks <--they are for Temperature Control only and will not work with your mod. You will need a temperature control mod to run these coils. Do not buy these!

Good luck.
