hi all,
heres my official 117 day(as of yesterdy) noob report.
first things first, what did i get,and what did it cost me?
not nessasarally in the order purchased.
19 30 ml bottles of various flavored juices.
3 v2 starter kits containing 1 ,260 mah batt,charger,and cartridge.
this was before i discovered this forum and the internet sales
possibilities and a better B&M locally.
4, 5 pack prefilled v2 menthol.i bought 1 local the others off
the net.i'm starting to catch on at this point.
2 1100 mah ego upgrade batts.1 c,and 1 t.both came with pass-thru
chargers.
1 6xx mah egoc upgrade.my local shop let me get a regular ego/510 charger
so i would have 2 of each.
1 generic 510/ego starter kit with 1 6xx mah batt,charger,and ce4 tank.
2 kr808d1 xl 390 mah manual batts from the net.getting the hang of this
now.
1 generic ego/510 6xx genaric batt, this was early on as a back up
for the genaric starter kit.
2,5 packs of v2 blank cartidges.these are not any where near as
good for refilling as there prefilled ones.i dont know why but there
not.
total cost=$695.00.
i quit smoking july 24 2013 for health reasons and the recent huge
tax increase.
my old brand of smokes now costs $7.60 a pack at 2 packs a day
would have cost me $1778.40.
subtract my cost in vaping thats a total savings of $1083.40.
i'm pretty much set up now for hardware so this is when the savings
will start snowballing.
even buying my juice locally my cost for an equivilent pack of
smokes is between $0.70 and $1.00 depending on what source you
use to figure this out.
equipment failures.
1 of the v2 batts crapped out.1 broken ce4 tank.broke clean righ below
the metal cap where you screw in the drip tip.took it out of my shirt
pocket and the top was gone.i first thought the drip tip came loose
and fell out.found the tip with the top of the tank in my shirt pocket.
1 drip tip broke right above the threads.i was able to get it out and
replaced it with the tip from the broken tank.
ejuice.
i have been fortunite enough to have liked all the juices i've gotten
for the most part.
if they turn out to be too sweet i mix them with clove.
if too thick i mix them with a menthol juice.
observations.
i've had most or all of the minor problems learning how to use
and maintain my equipment none serious enough to note here.
a mystery problem solved?
i would like to give you my take on tanks flooding out a battery.
i have had this happen on a few occasions.usually right after a
refill.
if your tank is empty or real low and it has been sitting unused
for a time dont top it off all at once.fill it half way to give
the juice in the wicks time to thin out to the vescosity of the
fresh liquid.the juice in the wicks will thicken when left sitting
uncovered and wont absorb the fresh juice at the same rate as when
there at the same vescosity as the fresh juice.
when the new juice thins out the juice in the wicks its like sucking
on a straw.with all full tank the juice has only one place to go.
straight down the air hole into the battery.
what got me thinking about this was after i had filled a tank i
attached it to my batt and leaned it against a large book at about a
45 degree angle as opposed to laying it flat.
a few minutes later i noticed a small pool of juice on the table
directly below where the batt and tank connect.sure enough the tank
was about a third empty.fortunitly the juice ran out one of the small
air holes that had been pointing straight down and none got into
the battery.this has been a problem with one particular blend of
juice i mix and since i now follow this procedure it has'nt reacured.
all and all i took to vaping with no real problems.
i use juice at 1.8% nic.allthough i dont make juice from scatch
i enjoy mixing flavors.
this has been a real trip so far and i'm damn glad to have found this
forum with all you nice people and all the good advise it has to offer.
regards
mike

What a trip, skoony! Thanks for sharing it with us. Your trip through selecting and problem-solving devices and e-liquid is fairly typical of a lot of us ECFers, I think, but it's always interesting to know how others are coping. :)

I started with V2 and still use their menthol juice. And your observation about their blank cartos vs. prefilled is what I've found too. And like you, I can't figure it out because it doesn't seem logical. Oh well... The blanks will stay in my in-case-of-vapocalypse box...!

Hearty congratulations on your 117-day anniversary! Vape on! :vapor:  :vapor:
