I have two 650mah and two 900mah batteries, and I usually use a 420mA USB cable (DC 5V 500mA in DC 4.2V 420mA out) for charging. Here's my USB hub:

http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-USB-Port-Power-Adapter/dp/B00483WRZ6

The only things I see there about its power are:

  • 2.5A Power Adapter. Terminus Technology Chipset. Overcurrent detection and protection
  • Not a standalone charger. NOT FOR CHARGING iPad or devices requiring more than USB's standard 500mA

So will this work to charge my eGo batteries since it implicitly suggests that it can go to USB standard 500mA? If so, could it potentially fry my PC or will the hub protect the PC itself?

The eGo batt charger doesn't draw even 500mA, so you're fine - even if you plugged it directly into the computer. The caution about iPhones/iPads is partially correct - it will charge those, but only if they're locked/in standby. And they'll charge very slowly. Your eGo batteries will be fine..
