Yes welcome to the modding disease know as Icantstopmoddingitis.. It seems to move in and start in the modding forum and often strikes upon those making their first mod that works.
And now I see you very nicely made a 2nd mod so you have it already. Looking forward to your next mod now.

Nice job on the Nico stick. That was my first mod as well and it still works fine. Although you installed a LED and is a nice additional feature.

thanks connman. right now i am taking an old 510 battery, a usb cord, and a dual usb car charger and trying to make a 5v passthrough for my car.. this way i could see what vaping at 5v is all about before putting the money into another mod, and have something to conserve my already long lasting batteries.. idk if im a lightweight or what, but im vaping my own mix of 20mg nic +marlB + menthol regularly, with a bit of fruit here and there.. im only going through 1 batter per almost 2 days..

Yeah, I'd like to know more about this one, Muddy....

whats that jimmy, about the homemade passthrough?

Absolutely!

I've got my first 5v mod laid out on the worktable right now. Can't find a decent regulator from Mad Vapes, much less anywhere so I'm running diodes in parallel to bring the power down to 5v.

...and the next mod will be a juicebox mod.

hmm.. i am in the process of making a 5v mod in a project box.. the only regulator i can find at ratshack is 5v 1a which i cant use.. i checked MV website and they are out of the 5v 3a with control pin which i wanted.. i didn't know you can use diodes to regulate the voltage.. im kind of new to this DIY electronics stuff, but learning. I ordered 5 free sample 5v 3a regulators from TI's website which a lot of people recommend here.. As far as the passthrough, i took an old 510 battery apart.. gutted it. installed a micro switch where the original switch used to be.. wired the pos from the connector thru the switch and brought the ground straight through. found an old usb cord that i didnt need and stripped it and found the pos and ground.. a little solder, electrical tape, and shrink tubing and voila! i haven't used a voltimeter on it since i do not own one, but it feels pretty constant 5v from the computer without a regulator.. as for the car, i need a higher amp connector to power this hog.

FWIW TI has some of the best regulators made. QC is excellent and sample to sample variance is almost nil. They will handle any ohm atty you throw at them without breaking a sweat. They only operate at a true 5V, then stop. Use with a pair of 3.7V batteries.

No control pin, just solid, reliable operation.

I ordered 5 free samples of these from TI's site.
