I've been vaping around my cat ( or rather she comes and sits on my lap when I'm vaping) since 2008 and it hasn't harmed her. I do NOT let her anywhere near the liquid, however, as PG ingested is, as has been mentioned, very bad for cats. I'm afraid that it sounds as if your pal may have kidney problems. All the best - I hope that it turns out to be something fixable.

Please - not every malady of the world is suddenly vape related. Both people and cats have been getting sick for a long time before vaping made an appearance. Flipping out isn't going to help, and looking for a "thing" connection that may not exist isn't helping at this point either.

A while ago we had a hysterical cat owner here whose cat had died due to some obscure connection to the dust being raised by the cat litter she was using. Despite even admitting her vet told her the lung problems were caused by the litter, she was still hell bent on finding a vape related connection that didn't really exist.

Sorry for kiity, but you just have to wait on the lab results.

vaping produces a vapor that can and will be attracted to somethings more than others... like glass for example. There is quite a strong possiblity that fur is also an attractant and since cats clean them selves by licking the fur, they could be very well licking off the Vape by products and ingesting them.... I "heard" PG isnt something that is good for felines.... wash the cats and avoid vaping around them and see if things clear up....

Not 1 of the dilutents? I've heard/ read of people having bad experiences with PG? My fiancé is hypochondriac but insists ("The cigarette smoke 'RISES'. The juice is OIL it sinks right down to HIS LEVEL OUR LEVEL'". Still smoking, thus obviously wabts me to still be too, thus I would not "..... or complain" about cig costs.... Ahhh HELLO, No. IWhat? Y r u swearing at me? I did not do anything. I went got what u asked 4 n cooked so u wouldn't b Hungry, especially when you're not well n feeling very uncomfortable.. U just told me u were going 4 cigarettes n brb? That's all...??? MOM is dying. Stage 4 LUNG CANCER!... Post/ Thread just flew w/o edits or my re-read. Feel like an idiot...1 in a MAJOR conundrum!?!

get a small cup of water and drip a few drops of your juice into it, if it forms a "bubble" of juice on top of the water, than its oil, if not, its not oil... show your boyfriend that....

To this, I can relate! My fiancé is bringing up Oli because he's whining about "lings feeling like heavy oil coated when he Vapes? Are you kidding me.... Umph, but Oli is acting weird since @ the day I put cigs down? Its too, over and over with complaints. Getting the tests back will make me feel better or worse (considering expense of treatment in finding out what is ailing him. But I've gottcha, defo? N no no bottles anywhere he could EVER get to them... However with the vape, he is CLEANING himself thus licking off what I've exhaled. All thoughts from ya'll r good n VERY MUCH APPRECIATRD!

Have you changed the brand of cat food that you give to Oli in the last few months? If so, perhaps the new food is disagreeing with him. When my daughter was in high school, we had a cat that absolutely would not eat dry food. She would only eat canned food. She was always kind of scruffy looking - healthy, but her coat always looked scruffy. We got a new kitten as a companion for her. The kitten was on a "premium" dry food when we got her, and we decided to keep her on it. Our older cat tried the "premium" food, and, lo and behold, she not only liked it, she tore into it. A couple of weeks later some of my daughter's friends came over and asked if we had gotten a new cat. Her coat was soft and shining, no longer scruffy looking. The different cat food made that big of a difference.

I hope everything works out well for you and Oli. Please keep us posted.

Assuming no underlying health issue, you usually hear that reported when using high-VG eliquids, especially when first switching. Since you mentioned some hobby mods... I do wish Oli the best, and hope the tests illuminate the issue and hope you report back.

And yeah, as an animal lover pets can be expensive. At least it's bloodwork and not a CAT Scan. I do those on the side if you want to save some cash.

A small but significant number of vapors get this feeling when vaping high vg liquids. You and he could have entirely different reactions to the same liquid without there being oil present. He should try a different ratio of base, or simply stop vaping.

ETA Golly Batman, you beat me to it.

Sadly cats may stop eating because of many reasons and end up with liver damage due to starving. Blood tests may show if PG ingestion is involved in it (low red blood cell count). It can be because of a sickness or even because of stress (can be change of food, a visitor in the house etc.). Try to feed using recovery pastes and recovery cat foods (the heavier the smell, more chance they will eat when they are sick). You can try to boil chicken breast and offer the water to your cat, also you can try boiling chicken liver, these 2 usually work on cats that refuse to eat. Veterinarian will take action before starving reaches point of no return.

My cat is 4 years atm, she loves the smell of vapor but i never let her come close when i vape, but she get it on her fur eventually and smell like cookies sometimes. I usually vape %50 or more pg juices but my cat is fine for 3 years. Its known that digesting PG causes cats to develop anemia and some other diseases, that is why PG is allowed in dog foods but not allowed in cat foods.

hope your cat get well soon

Thank you. No fiance's.... Jim (head strong n will ....* @ anything, he is very sick in the way that he has Lyme disease. Its been a haul... He also "up plays" everything, a stubbed toe is a broken foot fractured in 10 different locations (wow! Am I getting cinical). My Oli Bear, my everything he is as spoiled as anything (can't b "finicky" @ food. He's never seen wet food, so no clue it exists :) treats, umph, will sit beneath the cabinet with his food, treats, brushes, etc are and look at u batting his beautiful blue eyes (n trust if u ignore that he will get louder than the reason Ive never owned a female cat :)... OMG but you can't hide without him wanting EVERY other bite+ of your yogurt or tapioca pudding. Umph, umph! Ragdoll tempetment...Nothing bothers him, he cuddles and plays with friend's BIG dogs all the time and likes to visit every other animal at the vet, groomer, anywhere...
Novels @ cats, don't think here's the place for that (I wish I could attach picture, but can't figure out how) I'm a Social Worker/ Therapist, Oli's helping me get my Doctorate and he's less technophobic than I am. Computer's flipped out and we're in the middle of back to back to back of snow storms. I'm currently using my phone? Blood Tests results, I'll have tomorrow morning. Maybe this'll b time stamped and you'll see how much I'm sleeping :( ) And if they nothings wrong, I'm in trouble 2 and won't vape ANYWHERE near he or his food!! *NOooooo NO MODS, an Ego 900 mah VW w/ glass bdc clearo's is it!* Thank you ALL for your concern!!! I promise that I'll write as soon as I get any info. (Scans, if you're anywhere near Boston n do them yourself, SHOUT OUT please!)*** Also I'm running out of liquid as well, so ANY recommendations on where to go for juice FOR this simple "set up" (I've found the hard way $$$ that some are geared toward "drippers" or "mods" and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WORK well AT ALL with this "beginner style" which I prefer? I love "fruity sweet n flavorful", simple
(Whole desert thing may get to at some point, maybe, possibility, well prob.not? Further to "dishes" not me? Thank you for any recommendations on either issue. The former obviously, TOP PRIORITY!!! (Jeez, maybe I should look for a publisher for this post? Apologies. Nite, from the 3 of use) MOSTLY, THANKS!!!
