Near a beach in a desert.
I was smoking nearly a pack a day back in July or 09. I had been a smoker for 17years prior to that. I was getting tired of the habit and I know it was doing bad things to me. Then a friend introduced me to an e-cig he had bought online. I was like. For real...this is like a cigarette without all the bad stuff? Tried it and was like whoa...this is a good thing. So I bought the same brand as my friend a couple of days later and within a matter of a couple of weeks I had stopped smoking completely. Been smoke free since then.

I wish these had been around when my father was still alive. He would have loved it and it probably would have kept him from getting lung cancer. He avaraged a little over a pack a day for 40+ years. When he died the cancer had spread throughout his body and he weighed less than 80 pounds. He was not the tall strong man he was when I was a little girl. Cigarettes killed him slowly and ate away at him until they finally killed him.

I will not end up like him now. I am smoke free and e-cigarettes made it happen. Soon I will be nic free as well. E-cigarettes made this possible when gums, patches and the stupid nic inhalers failed. This worked and I am so happy. I can breath better. I can smell things. My taste has come back. My clothes and house no longer smell of smoke. My car is free of the smell of smoke. OMG life is good.

Congrats!! I just bought my pack+ a day dad a kit.. I'm hoping that he'll at least cut back on cigs. So far, he's looking at it as a novelty, but I hope he'll ease into PVs a little more, and ease out of analogs. Have you had any cravings for a real one at all? I was never a heavy smoker, so I'm always interested to see how a heavier smoker is doing with the switch..

I was smoking about 2 packs a day. I wanted to quit, but kinda in an academic way where it would have been nice to not smoke any more, but not so much that I did anything about it.

Once I got my e-cig, I was down to one pack a day in two days, and then a half pack a day before the first week was up. A few days after that, I quit the rest of the way.

It hasn't even been quite 9 days since my last cigarette, but other than the first day, I haven't had any real urges to smoke. I'd sorta like to try one to see how it feels now, but again, in an academic sense that doesn't lead to me actually seeking one out or feeling like I need one.

Other people report getting a renewed need for cigarettes around 30 days in, which may or may not correspond with the last of the metabolic byproducts of the non-nicotine tobacco alkaloids finally clearing from the body. I guess I'll find out in early February.

You would discover, after vaping a while, that real cigs taste like crap... I think a person's taste buds recover a bit, and then go into shock when you try a regular cigs. You realize that you've been smoking asphault rolled in paper. Good for you!!

I had an analog the other night, just to re-visit it. Terrible! I dont see how I did it for so long

I do this once a week to keep reminding myself just how nasty analogs really are (apparently I have a bad short term memory  )

Congrats on approaching 6 months analog-free Gypsy! Can't wait till I can say the same!

i was a 1 1/2 to 2 pack a day smoker (sometimes more depending on what i was doing or who i was with) i have been vaping since December 16th and i can honestly say that at first i had a random craving but after the first dew days it was nothing more than the e-cig i craved... i love my vapor!! good luck to you and your dad hopefully he'll realize the vast array of yummy flavors and decide to stick to it!!

Congrats lovingit! Stick with it, you'll make it. Sorry about your dad as well. It is not something anyone should ever have to experience. Sadly, because of cigarettes, there will be many more dads and moms that may end up like ours - hopefully these wonderful little devices will one day be embraced and we will see less and less people succumb to the dangers of smoking regular cigarettes.

:)...these stories are amazing. I'm pretty stoked - haven't bought yet but will soon. Been researching and was about 85%ish sure i was going to go with the 510. Now i'm thinking maybe the pen style would be good for me. I feel pretty sure that eventually i'm going to want something that REALLY HITS...like the mod batt style Chuck or Screwdriver. Maybe i'll work my way through all of them and never save a dime...
I don't care though - getting off of analogs is like a paid vacation to me - permanent holiday - good life.
I wish everybody who told their success stories said also which model they were loving.

-Glad to be here:)

It's AMAZING when you read these stories of HARDCORE SMOKERS quitting that fast !! , same thing happened to me after 37 yrs smoking !!

And the FDA wants us to DIE because they dont have a study ??? I do understand thier point but DO A FREAKIN STUDY MAN !!!!!!!!

They could care less what the people who's lives have actually been pulled from the edge of life have done , they want their STUDY DAMN IT !!!!!

Well maybe we should all cough up ( no pun intended ) and get one done ???

The anti smoking groups would rather we die than not listen to their unfounded KIDS WILL SMOKE E-CIGS propaganda !!!!!

Anyhow congrats !!!! live long and prosper LOL !
