My Vape Story...and looking for help on DIY Flavorings.

First off vaping has been as I'm sure many here can say one of the best things to ever happen to them. After 15 or so years of smoking I QUIT! Started with a little ego twist battery fell in love and since have upgraded to RDA building and all that fun stuff. I've tried a handful of websites for juice and even my local shop where I got started as my source of vaping. Growing tired of the shop for various reasons I kept trying to find better juice at better prices. Found some winners some meh's and a few that are just nasty. I did find a place online freedomsmokeusa.com that I found 3 of the very very best flavors I've ever had Black Jack Gum, Water Rancher, and Hawaiian punch...I really wanna come close to these GEMS!!! They dont let you full customize vg/pg on some of these and price per ML was a little higher than some...but the best juice flavor ever!

My evolution to RDA's and just the actual FUN of being more in control of how I vape has gravitated me towards DIY juice which seems very cool. My progress on DIY is as follows.

I'm using basic CVS glycerin...I bought from ecigexpress some nicotine base, and some flavorings...the base stuff seems to be just fine however I've had some juice issues.

Worst one was 10% at 5/6mg nic Grape Lorann Flavoring...made a bottle smelled good tasted ok and then near the dry burn phase I got this horrid ugly burned metal taste...followed up with some steep/breathe time and nothing. This stuff was almost pitch black and I ended up tossing it all out including the flavoring.

Also from Lorann I got a BIG watermelon flavoring which made ok juice nothing special tastes nothing like watermelon but its totally vapable...kinda a meh.
Tutti Fruitti and I like this one no problems here.
Cotton Candy and though it tastes more like sugar than cotton candy I like this one although it doesn't seem like a complete stand alone flavor.

I also got a Flavor West fruit punch and the flavor is lacking and flat and I'm thinking to bump up the % of flavoring on this one and play around..just a low meh!

I've heard good things about TFA Perfumers Apprentice and really want to try them...thinking to order from wizard labs. My question is if anybody could let me know opinions on some of the flavors I want to try. I've been researching as much as possible through the internet but sometimes reviews can be hard to find depending on the flavor. I like a almost all VG usually around 6mg nicotine. I have no problems with PG I just prefer clouds and a smoother vape. I also like a nice sweet solid flavor nothing too weak.

I wanna try TFA:
Absinthe
Sour and the Sweetener so I can play around a bit more with customization.
Black Cherry
Candy Watermelon
Hawaiian Punch
Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Juicy Gum
Gummy Candy
And I wanna mix it up with a Chocolate(they have many different types) or maybe the Mocha. I only tried one Pre-made Chocolate Liquid from a website it was Chocolate Hazelnut and as much as I tried to like it....it sucked it was just plain BAD! And I'm ready to try this type of flavor again.

So any suggestions, opinions, tips or personal reviews would be awesome thanks again...time to vape :vapor:

PS. I currently vape on my trusty Cana Modz DNA 30 on a 2.2 Ohms single coil with a Stillare RDA...at variable Watts.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

For all things DIY head on over to the DIY ELiquid Forum. You will not be able to post there until you get in your first 5 posts and the servers update at :25 past the hour. Make sure to read all the "stickies". Also check out the blogs by ECF members Hoosier & dannyv45.

For a juice mixing calculator consider using eJuiceMeUp

I don't just buy all my flavors from one flavoring company. I primarily use Flavor Arts but there are some flavors that TFA/Inawera/Capella and others do better (and better/best is subjective depending on what you like). Start out with a few recipes you want to make, research those flavors to see who does it best and then try making a few recipes.

Here are some threads you may like to read through for different flavoring companies. Many of the posts include recipes and comments about a specific flavor.

1. Flavor Arts (FA) - Pure Vapes has 3ml FlavourArt flavorings
2. The Flavor Apprentice (TFA) - The Flavor Apprentice Flavoring Thread
3. Inawera (IW) - Inawera - a few reviews
4. Hangsen - The Hangsen Thread
5. VapingZone - New Super Concentrated Flavors & New Super Concentrated Flavors - Part 2

I like bullcityvapors.com, wizardlabs.com, vapingzone.com, and nudenicotine.com. I personally think the nude nicotine is the best nicotine base I have tasted. It is super clean ( a few dollars more) and they have good prices on larger bottles and 5ml test vials are pretty awesome. I haven't tried any of their flavors but nicotine, citric acid, malic acid and large bottles from them are pretty well priced. Wizard Labs and bull city have great prices to try small amounts of flavorings for cheap.

Flavors are really individual. I personally haven't cared for the Loranns flavors I have tried. Flavor Art, TFA, Capellas, vapinzone concentrates, Seedmans have all had some flavors i liked or really liked, as well as a few duds.. I figure somewhere down the line I will work a trade with someone to swap some flavors, with the flavors I didn't like.

Thanks for the tips, and yeah so far I haven't been overall satisfied with Lorann flavorings...im figuring to try a few from each of the popular types and find some good ones. Still new to the DIY juice bit but learning is fun if you like what you're doing.
