My Vaping Day (Whiny)

Sooo…I've had two good BVC coils on the nautilus, I guess it was about time for a bad one. Changed coils two days ago, noticed last night while I was charging my MVP that the resistance in the "new" coil had jumped from 1.9 (which is always what 1.8s read on there) to 2.2 for some reason. This morning the FUNK was back. Mmm…sweaty socks and mildew instead of delicious twinkies. Took the thing apart and looked at the coil…it looked like some of whatever that filler material is inside it had come loose and was clogging the hole down the middle, so I poked around with a toothpick and cleared the hole…but still, mildew and sweaty socks. I went scrounging around in my vaping drawer and found an old nautilus coil, not the BVC, the other one, and put that in. Now, for some reason, my delicious Suicide Bunny OB tastes like onions and soy sauce. (Yes, I primed the coil). So, I guess the odds are looking like about every third expensive coil made by Aspire is a dud.

So, now that I've spent the day un-showered, cleaning the house, washing the dogs and inspecting my bees…I get to put my big girl pants on and drive to the vape store to get new coils.

AAAND…guess who read that bogus british study about how vaping has 10x the formaldehyde as cigarettes? Oh, my father, who I talk to every Sunday, and who is now super concerned about my "health". Doesn't hurt that he's a 2pad smoker and my mom has been on him to switch to vaping now that I've done it. Whatever, he's still getting an eGo starter kit when I go home for Christmas. :grr:

GRR. How is everyone else's day going?

dissie220, that's a great gift for your sister, I'm sure she'll love it.

And yeah, TheJakeBailey. I'm seriously considering it. I said I wasn't interested in rebuilding, but maybe it's time to rethink that position.
For the longest time I swore I would not get into rebuilding because of the time and hassle involved. Roughly 5 months ago I broke down and I bought a few Kayfuns, and never looked back.

Turns out, after getting my feet wet with a few builds, it wasn't the time and hassle I thought it would be. Not only does it save a lot of money with not having to buy new coils, but the difference in vapor and flavor was more than just a bit noticeable. :thumb:

One of the shops here has decent Kayfun clones for not too much money. I am considering picking one up, just because I hate paying money for something if I can learn how to do it myself (I groom my own dogs and change my own oil, too). The real ones seem spendy, but I'm guessing they last. I've been watching some videos. Still not sure if my hands will let me do it…but I'm considering putting a Kayfun on the Christmas list and giving it a go. It would have been much simpler today to have been able to sit down and make what I needed, instead of driving across town in the middle of mall and Christmas parade traffic.

As said get into rebuildables. Cheaper, better tasting, no dumb heads to deal with, and you can completely customize the Wicks and coils to what you want. Love it. Price is the biggest factor. I paid maybe 30 bucks for a lifetime of Wicks. I'm not even kidding when I say lifetime
Same here as far as the wicks. I recently bought a box of Koh Gen Do cotton, and only paid $12.00 for a box of 60 pads. I can usually get at least 16 wicks per pad, so for that $12.00 I can get almost 1000 wicks out of it.

I have a few authentic Kayfuns, and a few Kayfun clones (I bought the authentics first) and I honestly can't tell the difference. Will the authentics last longer in the long run? Maybe, maybe not, but for a difference of about $70.00 between an authentic and a clone ($100 versus $30) I have lately been going with the clones with no issues at all.

Oh believe me, I said the same thing. I just got so tired of buying faulty heads, getting dry hits, etc. Todays tanks are much better than the ones a year ago. But at the end of the day, if the QC on the heads is still poor, it doesn't really matter how great it is when you get one that works. Mine work ALL of the time. lol

Exactly - and my $30 figure included kanthal for building coils and all tools needed for that (drill bits, torch, butane, tweezers, ect)

Yeah, and everything except the kanthal and cotton…I already have here at the house. I went to one local B&M tonight, but the rebuildable tanks they had in stock they said were pretty much best for sub ohm building, which I am not interested in doing. Later on this week I think I'll go over to the other place I like, I know those guys there are big into rebuilding and are willing to show me what to do.

I'd recommend the following to keep your budget friendly

Koh Gen Do cotton - $7.40
Amazon.com: Cotton Labo ORGANIC Cotton Puff Size M (200pc): Health & Personal Care

Kanthal - $8
Temco Kanthal A1 Wire 28 Gauge 100 ft 0 61oz Resistance Resistor AWG A 1 | eBay

eLeaf Lemo ~$30
Check vapenw.com and vapercompany.com for stock. Remember to google promo codes for these sites to ensure you get the best deal.

With the above set up ontop of an eLeaf Istick, I have a nice set up with under $100 that I chuck nice clouds with and have amazing flavor. I actually have 2 of these set ups always ready so I never run out of "vape time" and always have something to vape on.

What battery do you have?

Thanks for the recommendations! I have an MVP 2.0, and am considering picking up an iStick. I see that there are some great deals on them online right now, but I'm waiting for my B&M to get them back in stock so I can hold one and play around with it to see what it's like before I buy. You like yours, obviously, and everyone I know who has one speaks highly of them, so I'll probably be getting one before the end of the year.

I replaced my coil in the nautilus again on Sunday (after my cranky trip to the shop in my bedroom slippers) and it's already starting to taste icky and change resistance. I'm vaping 50/50 PV VG at about 8.5 watts, so I don't feel like I'm being hard enough on the coils for them to be wearing out quite that fast. I've been watching videos, and even the builds that the guy at the shop last night was showing me don't seem THAT complicated, not like I was thinking it would be, so I guess I'm going to make this happen. It appeals overall to the cheapskate DIY part of me.

LOL - amen to the cheapskate part. I got tired of buying heads for my Aerotank and I wanted more flavor and vapor. The lemo delivers.

The iStick can be had for around $33 on ebay. For a price like that, you cannot go wrong. If you go to a Lemo I'd def go with a iStick. These things really shine around 17-19 watts from my experience. I'm getting 4 tanks of 6mL juice or 24mL of juice vaped before I need to rewick running at 1.2ohms at 17 to 19 watts. Rewicking takes all of 5 minutes once you get the hang of it. The iStick puts the MVP to shame in my opinion. Here's some comparison pictures and such for your viewing pleasure.

Yep lemo is the way to go comes with wire and cotton to keep you going for a bit and has useful instructions to help you out too. I got sick of paying good money for dodgy goods never managed to get a full pack of heads that all worked so in the end decided rebuilding had to be less frustrating and it is.

The shop I'm going to tomorrow carries the Ehpro (I think that's right) Kayfun clones. IDK if they have the Lemo, but since three people on this thread have recommended them I will probably pick one up online and watch some videos about how to build them. I'm going to get that Kayfun clone first, because I know that there is a human that is willing and able to walk me through the building process immediately and sometimes I'm not good at learning things from video or directions without someone standing over my shoulder. If the shop has the Lemo I might grab one of them instead, they are certainly cheaper. Thanks for the recommendations y'all, I'm sure I'll be begging for help before too long LOL.

For a while innovapours were the only UK online store to stock the lemo but they are one of a few now they were out of stock so I got my second one from provapes.co.uk was a simple transaction but always best to check for latest prices. Both pbursado and Todd have good reviews on the lemo on YouTube and I think pbursado does a build as well but not certain.
