We went out on a photo taking tour today. Me with my Canon 7D and the wife with my Canon 40D. :) Here are some of the photos she took:

Thanks everyone! :) I have been teaching her as much as possible, plus she always looks at my photos and asks how I did them. :) Plus the fact that I have great Canon cameras and lenses doesn't hurt! ;) :) Today was the first day she ever used a telephoto lens with a 1.4X extender, so she had her work cut out for her. The weather conditions made it tough to get good exposures on the Eagles and other birds. :(

All in all I personally feel she did an awesome job and we had some fun together! :)

I know what you mean Laura! :) Photography is an awesome hobby, especially when you have a decent camera. :) I always have a camera close at hand. I even carry a little point and shoot camera in my truck constantly when I go shopping and am afraid to bring the big camera due to the possibility it might get stolen. :)

My wife has always just wanted to use the point and shoot camera, but yesterday she asked me to show her the ins and outs of a big digital. The results were stunning! :) She took about 86 photos and I took well over 100. :)

There has been days when we were out Eagle watching when I took over 800 photos in one day. :) I have a 500 gigabyte external hard drive that is completely full, plus a stack of home burned CDs and DVDs that is about 6 feet tall. :) I guess you could say that I am obsessed with photos and photo taking! ;) :) :D

Congratulations! HUGE Milestone. I can't seem to get my wife past her point and shoot. Your wife did well for an amateur but your focus points and compositions are what distinguishes an amateur and somebody who knows what they're doing.

p.s - you have dirt on your mirror. There's a spot showing in the top left of your eagle shot, around an inch in. May need some mirror cleaning. ;)

Yup! I noticed that too! Plus the Clean Sensor code is coming up, so it's time to send it in for a good cleaning by Canon Service Centers. :) That 40D has taken over 150,000 photos. :)

I need to clean the filter on my camera lens. I got a little too close to the rocks yesterday just as a big wave broke, so the lens got a bunch of spray on it. :) Ahh, the hazards of trying to capture an awesome photo! ;) :) :D

People use big cameras now ? Way back in the 80's my hubby just had to have a giant minolta with all the lens' nd gadgets and it cost me bout 2k then ....he says no one uses em now and it wouldnt even go on ebay ! We use a digital now and i'm just not into it enough .

I have an old Minolta Film camera that always took awesome photos. :) I used it a lot for wedding photos, portraits and scenic shots. :) It made me a lot of money in it's day. Sadly, it is too hard to get film for it anymore and the price of developing the film went through the roof around here. :(

My big camera is a Canon 7D. :) It ways $1,600 for the body alone. Then I had to buy Professional grade lenses. ;) The cheapest lens was $650. (yup! I have more money than brains! ;) :) :D ) I have lenses from the Canon 17-40 L to a Canon 400 L telephoto, plus the L series extenders. I still want to buy a Canon 800 mm. L series super telephoto lens, but the $13,000 price tag is holding me back. :(
