N00b Terminology Help

Okay so this is my second day vaping, second day on ECF, and first day posting.

I have gathered a bit of the terminology so far but have a few simple questions:

-Is e-cig acceptable or do most prefer personal vaporizer?
-What about smoking vs vaping? I'm guessing that smoking is a no-no?
-Puffing? Is that used (i.e. I was puffing my pv!)
-Any other terminology help would be great!

Also, if there is already a good post about this please point me in that direction and forgive me for being too lazy to search right now.

well I call mine a PV and I vape them not smoke them and I take a hit or a puff but what ever works for you is fine we'll all know what your taking about, congrats on making the switch

I think these will vary from person to person, but here is my 2 cents:

-prefer "e-cig", unless I want to sound like a hipster d-bag & then I throw down "personal vaporizer" with that slight drawing out of the words & a super condescending tone.

-Personal Vaporizers do not produce smoke of any kind, sir.

-puffing sounds distinguished, I like that. Usually I say "hitting".

I switched to "Personal Vaporizer" because as soon as you use the word "cigarette" in a sentence people immediately start to shut you down.

If I'm posting on the forum or talking to a non-smoker it's refered to as a PV. If I'm talking to a smoker it's an e cig.

-What about smoking vs vaping? I'm guessing that smoking is a no-no?

We are not burning tobacco and paper. We're creating a type of vapor.

-Puffing? Is that used (i.e. I was puffing my pv!)

Some use the term "toking". I'd prefer not to.

When explaining what I'm doing, I usually say it's an e-cig, but also tell them it is a personal vaporizer for nicotine. Talking to people that already know what it is, I just call it a PV.

Never ever have I called it smoking.. You are not smoking, there is no burning tobacco. I call it vaping, as do most people here.

-Puffing? Is that used (i.e. I was puffing my pv!)
I usually just say vaping.

-Any other terminology help would be great!
depends what kind of terminology you want help with just ask if you see something you aren't sure about, everyone here is usually happy to answer.

I've heard the phrase "toot" used instead of "puff", but for me, that's a little too silly a word to use.

"Toot," now that there is funny! I thought a toot was something entirely different, coming out and not going in, the other end!

I too prefer PV over e-cig unless talking to a smoker. A non-smoker can be quite judgemental and assume it's just like smoking calling it an e-cig, imo.

I use PV or e-cig ..... I say drag, toke, or toot .... sometimes puff .... and always vape, never smoke

I use ecig because new members often get confused between PV and VG and other things.

I drag on mine. I vape.
