Thanks for posting. I stopped reading / watching local media a while ago because it is all the same. Boring, predictable, politically correct articles. ML lost another game, someone is underpaid and gone on strike, global warming, save polar bears, light rain caused massive power outage. And taxes are up again.
NP seems taking a bit different and more balanced approach, at least in this matter and that's great. Look forward to a follow up.

Wish my MLA would read this. His response to my letter regarding BC's forthcoming changes to the tobacco Act were to claim that a) most vapers do it recreationally, as if t's not really used by smokers to quit, b) use by youth is increasing. I asked him to provide proof to back either of these claims up, and he has stopped responding. (Shane Simpson is the MLA btw). He even suggested one day we'll get a prescription from our doctor to get e-cig stuff from the pharmacist. Geezus.

Big Pharma is doing a bang up job of convincing MLAs, MPPs and City Councils that there are many ghosts to worry about, re vaping.

Interesting read, warrior.
What about health practitioners and insurance companies? Will they benefit or lose if more people quit smoking?

Good questions and deserves a response. I have not looked at these questions and have no stats to give but if you want my opinion: Insurance companies will benefit due to less payouts to premature death but will lose by not being able to charge the extra a smoker pays for coverage. Health practitioners will lose some cash not getting the visits from people contracting as many COPDs as before but they are mostly over booked as it stands anyway.
More people quitting smoking can only be a plus for everyone since it is quality of life that is the most important.:toast:

I like the article and like how it is written.

I also like the point it makes and which I think is plausible going forward for the US. Which amounts to:

- we are going to ask for your left arm, your right leg, and the pinky finger on your right hand.
- after some politicking, we have determined you will get to keep you left arm and and your right leg.
- you can thank us now
