Nautilus Mini Bottom Hardware Clogged

My nautilus Mini Bottom Hardware is clogged.

I like to chain vape: Take several mouth to lung hits in a row so I fill my lungs with a big cloud.

The problem is, my Mini floods about halfway through the process, and won't vape anymore for about 10 seconds. (It used to work before.)

I narrowed the problem down to lack of airflow by replacing the bottom hardware. Much better airflow, no more flooding the coil.

Now, what can I do to rescue my old bottom hardware and prevent the problem from happening again?

Problems I was having before I replaced the bottom hardware:

1. The bottom pin spring rusted away into nothing. Replaced the pin but still got flooding.

2. Gunk buildup: Brownish black goo building up in the base of my mini. Every time I removed the coil, I'd have to clean out a bunch of it.

3. This may gross you out, but I also tend to drool into my device when I vape. Every once in awhile, I have to take the drip tip off and fling the spit out. I try to keep my mouth dry when I vape, but it's basically inevitable.

What I've tried to revive the hardware: q-tip cleaning, hot water rinse, alcohol soak. Citrus degreaser soak: That got out some junk, but the problem remains.

There doesn't seem to be a good way to get into the airflow holes and where the air goes from there to clean out the remaining gunk. Is there some way to take these apart that I'm missing?

What I'm using:
1.6 BVC coils
MVP 2.0 at 11 watts
80pg/20vg Menthol with 2 extra shots from Mt. Baker Vapor

Any hints or tips on how to preserve my new hardware or revive my old would be greatly appreciated!

I'm amazed that you can even get a lung hit. If your using 80 PG your juice must be very thin and not sure why it would gunk up like that. I use the mini's too and maybe once a week I let it soak in vodka for a bit, but haven't noticed the problems your having and been using mine for the past 6 months.

Have no idea what this might be. Is your juice dark?
