Need a car female usb for my passthrough

Hey,
hopefully this isn't too far away from the right place for posting...
I made a usb passthrough and it works amazingly on my computer. But I want to use it in the car. I had a cigarette lighter - usb contraption (until it, and nothing else, got stolen from my car) but it couldn't crank out enough power I think. Any thoughts? Why wouldn't this work and which car usb thingies have people had success with?

I picked up one from Fry's for $10, it's a Wagan Tech 2 outlet with dual USB connector, puts out 2A.

Heres the exact one I have:
