i don't want to sound gross but I'm really tired of the gross gunk that builds up on my drip tips. is this something that happens on all drip tips or only metal ones? if its only metal does anyone have suggestions on a different type of drip that won't have this problem as much? i really want a pyrex drip tip but for some reason beyond me they are crazy expensive. i don't understand why a pyrex drip tip is like 30 bucks when i can get an entire pyrex tank for 15. but anyway any suggestions? i really like the vicious ant chaplin tips.

I actually love the silicone covers they make for drip tips, first of all it makes them softer on the lips, 2nd of all , you can just rinse it off quick and put back on your tip, I think they make them for "sharing" but I use them over a lot of my drip tips as they make things softer landing on the skin on my lips. Which are sensitive in winter

The gunk you're talking about is a mix of dried saliva and dead skin from your lips, as well as anything that came into contact with them (food, drinks, etc.). This type of buildup will happen on any drip tip made from any material. If you want to minimize it, get a smooth drip tip so you can easily wipe it off.

Those look really nice. I don't like metal drip tips, either. Not because of gunk, but because they are c-c-cold on my lips. :p

I like the hybrid look, though. I may give them a try. I would hope the plastic "sleeve" would prevent the cold feeling from dominating the sensation.

I usually prefer simple plastic (ABS, etc.) or Delrin drip tips. I just bought three of these from Vivid Smoke.

I went to fasttech and got one of every type of tip I could find. When I got them I decided I was not fond of steel, hated aluminum, was OK with glass, really loved delran, etc.

Now I know not t even look at, well look but not buy, the fantastic steel ones. I almost can not believe it that I like the cheapest, simplest tips around.

Uh, wash them? You don't say what kind of topper, but it seems like you're using those with removeable tips. Wash in hot water, run a pipe cleaner down to clean and dry the inside. You can sterilize in alcohol if you want, just don't leave plastic or rubber (think O-rings) in too long, and rinse well after that.

I got this last week. $2.37 Glass + Stainless Steel 510 Drip Tip at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I also got the muffler varieties but love this one. It is big though. Easy to drip and thick. It doesn't heat up like the SS ones do and feels much nicer. Only con I can think of is that it shows condensation. That doesn't bother me though.

Got some of those last week and theyre nice. Small hole though and the condensation does add up fairly quick. Just rinse them out real quick and theyre good to go.
