An e-cigarette is more often a cig-a-like looking thing. Not very flexible or adjustable. A lot of constraints, but if it works, it works.

Vaping is much, much broader and has more options available to make the experience much more enjoyable to the individual. But, since we are "individuals", it takes trial and error.

The two terms, e-cig and vaping, are rather similar and some may inter-change the terms, but once people explore the world of vaping, they see that e-cigs are more limited than vaping.

I saw smoking as black and white, regular or menthol. Vaping, on the other hand is in color. Kinda like the two different worlds in the move The Wizard of Oz.

I actually switched over night due to disgust...but, vaping needs a little exploration. Like the Land of Oz.

Great hobby.

Welcome to the forum. Vaping and E-Cigarette are terms used to describe the same thing. For someone to recommend a place to purchase we would need to know generally where you are located.
Where I am located would help wouldn't it lol. My mistake. I'm located in Hampton Bays NY You always tend to forget to add something in a conversation after you post it or at least I do. Sorry about that.

Welcome to ECF. For most folks, switching to vaping takes SOME effort, but based on many member experiences here, it does tend to be more effective than other quitting strategies, many folks tried a lot of nicotine replacement or other strategies in trying to quit before finding vaping.

With that said, everyone is different. Vaping is also different, and may take some time to find that "perfect" setup. If you are looking to start vaping right away, brick and mortar vape shops are more expensive, but often will offer some conveniences, e.g. if you are having trouble with your setup and sometimes the ability to taste test a lot of juices before selecting one. I'd look at reviews of vape shops near you and go to one, even if it's just to explore what is out there.

I'd say the most important thing will be finding the TYPE of vaping experience you want. Some people prefer MTL vaping, which is similar to a cigarette "inhale" where vape is sucked into the mouth, then inhaled from there. Direct lung vaping tends to be lower resistance coils, much "cloudier" vape, and the ability to inhale directly into the lungs with a larger quantity of vapor.

I kind of suggest to new vapers that they buy a mod (the battery of the device) that is able to support both MTL and DL vaping, the worst thing that will happen with a more powerful device if you find out you like a MTL setup, is that you will get much longer battery life and it will be lower stress overall for your batteries. You have the option of either an internal battery mod that you charge via USB, or a removable battery mod (one or two battery) where you charge your batteries externally on a dedicated charger.

Then I generally suggest trying a MTL tank (something like the Nautilus 2, the Njoy Elf (which takes nautilus coils but fixes some of the N2 "problems", it's an easier fill style, actually 2 ml capacity compared to the N2, and slightly better flavor.) There are some other nice MTL tanks like the Ego Mega V2 (which takes Joytech Ccells, which you can get fairly inexpensively and the 1.0 ohm coil gives great flavor, they can also be very easily rewicked and rebuilt), and there are other options as well.

I am primarily a MTL vaper, so I can't speak too much about tanks for DL vaping, although I have heard good things about the Uwell crown (now on version 3), which does also offer some different resistance ranges and has good airflow options so it's more of a crossover tank, can be vaped DL or more MTL style.

Finally, the best thing you can do for yourself juice wise, is to find some juices you really like the flavor of starting out. If you wind up more MTL, most folks vape in the 12--36 mg/ml of nicotine and often with some PG in their vape at a higher amount, as it gives more throat hit or flavor. DL vapers often vape with a higher VG content but also lower nicotine, as the more vape you inhale per puff, the more nicotine you will be asbsorbing per inhale. There are certainly other juice factors involved, but primarily, finding one that gives you good flavor and satisfaction for your style of vaping is important.

Best of luck and welcome to ECF.

Got to remember this site is international. You could have been anywhere from Australia to Afghanistan. Legal stuff in various countries can change things. It’s totally illegal in Singapore for example. So the USA then. No issues.
Vaping helps a lot of people to quit smoking. Vaping itself is Vastly less dangerous or debilitating than smoking, and once you are vaping instead of smoking vaping itself is easier to quit than cigarettes.

Hi, this is my first time here. I'm looking to find out if Vaping or the E-Cigarette is good to use to quit smoking. And if so, which one is the better of the two? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Also where to buy. Thank you
Welcome and glad you joined.
The information below may help you in choosing what type of basic product appeals to you.
I found that learning vaping is a little like the learning progression when you first get in to drive a car. The more basic the car, generally, the easier it is to learn on. I recommend purchasing an economical simple vaping device, if you grow out of it, you will know more about vaping when your ready for your next purchase. I suspect very few vapers stick with the first device they purchased.

Could look at the Kanger Evod Starter Kit which comes with two batteries.

The relation between Vaping and Ecigarette is the same as the relation between smoking and Cigarette. Ecigarettes create vapor, not smoke. So to us vapers, it is like scratching a chalkboard when someone sees me vaping and asks "what flavor are you smoking".

Very loose explanation:
Many of us on the forums were previous smokers. Like all other smokers, we smoked for the nicotine, but suffered the consequences of the smoke. In a traditional cigarette, the smoke carries the nicotine into the lungs. When we inhale the smoke, the microscopic tar binds to the 2000 or so chemicals (including nicotine) and sticks to the inside of your lungs. The lungs absorb the chemicals, but doesn't absorb the tar. It's the tar that blocks the lungs, not allowing oxygen to be absorbed through the lungs. When we vape, the ecigarette "boils" the ejuice. The ejuice is usually consisted of Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerine, Nicotine, and flavoring. Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine are absorbed into the bloodstream through the lungs, and is a common food additive and is classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Nicotine is considered addictive and a mild stimulant but other than that, is not considered cancerous. It can be harmful if you overdose on it, but as of this date, there have been very few deaths resulting from Nicotine overdose (I have heard of only one incident). Many flavors used in Ecigarettes come from the food industry, and especially from the bakery products. Being a baker myself, I see many flavors I bake in Ejuices flavors.

Now, only one last thing to note, and this is more of an opinion than a truth.... I wish to term "ecigarette" as those small enough to look like a cigarette, and "vaporizer" or "vape" as something larger. It's hard to determine which is which sometimes. I don't really see the small cigarette sized ones as a "vaporizer" like what I use, but it is something that uses the same technology on a much smaller scale.

What product would I recommend? Well, there's no easy way to answer that, as to each person has their own starting point that works for them. If you just wish to explore vaping as a solution, I'd recommend getting something small, and something that can be adjustable. You might progress past that quickly, but at least it can show you the potential for vaping. Chances are, you won't be satisfied with your first product, but if you stick with it and stop smoking, you will see it was money well spent.

I agree with brotherbob get an inexpensive starter kit like the evod with the understanding that you will upgrade shortly that way you can get some ideas on your next step plus can use it as a back up. the other thing is maybe get an inexpensive box mod and a kangertech toptank it uses many different coils and has adjustable air flow so can try different settings
