I built an 18650 mod a while back and can't seem to find a switch that won't burn out. I wire the swithces directly into the hot lead without a regulator. I don't have room to add a regulator and I want a small switch so I can countersink it into the mod. I have burned up too many attys because my pocket seems to like pressing and holding protruding buttons. Any reccomendations?

Also, I don't quite understnad how the volytage regulator would help me to use a smaller switch without it burning up. I thought the regulators were to drop volatge down to a constant voltage when using multiple batts. Do they make small versions of these? The ones madvapes sells are WAY too big to fit in my mod. How are they supposed to be wired in when using a single 3.7 volt batt? Do they really keep micro switches alive?

Hi Rothman. A regulator won't protect a switch unless you're running higher voltages. What you may be thinking of is a MOSFET (metal oxide field effect transistor). This will make your switches last longer. That, and using a switch rated for the voltage and amperage it's being subjected to. Here's a link to a popularly used MOSFET Digi-Key - IRLU3114ZPBF-ND (Manufacturer - IRLU3114ZPBF)
And here's a switch I use a lot.http://www.madvapes.com/CampK-Components-3A-Black-Pushbutton-switch_p_2429.html It's a 3 amp, 125 volt switch. I've been using them for about four months without so much as a misfire.

I just got some boxes with the switch already on it so I'm hoping they will last.
Otherwise I do the same as you which means I have to give the atty a turn or two when I'm not using them.

As you can tell, I won't be much help.:(

Have you used that mosfet thingy? How big are they? Thanks for the info!

No, I haven't but I've seen them put into some very small mods. You should check out the battery mods section of the forum. You could get much more informed answers from some pretty genius folks over there. here's a few links to some good threads on switches
