ok, gotta go easy here... I mean real easy. The man is 82, and wants to quit something he has done since he came to this country when he was 19 (smoking).

Now I have spare ego batteries and such, hooked him up last Sunday with a battery and a tank of apple, it was going well.
Well enough that he is interested.
Problem is, I am not that close (distance) to always do the tank stuff for him. You need a steady hand for most of this stuff.

I was doing some searching on the forum, and found that blu carts work on 510 connections...wait, I have two blu carts left from months ago..let me check this, sure enough..it does!

This is turning out well... problem, blu kinda sucks and is expensive for something not that good.
I notice other places sell pre filled carts, flavors are limited.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I am heading down this easy route and just pay the price?
He is a big fan of grape, loves the grape cigars.. I would love to put him on some sort of grape!

I have the ego style batteries and charger covered for him... just need to work on the juice.

Anyone with thoughts?

Thanks!
Rob

Nicoticket sent me some Grape Cotton Candy and I liked it, I tried a tank of it over the last couple of days. Duno if that was a limited time thing, shoot Clark an e-mail and see whats up w/ that. Lot of grape-y flavor.

If not them, then try Ahlusion, they should have some grape flavor - I tried a blueberry-vanilla from 'em and its nearly an all day vape for me, Alice in Vapelands April Moon is maybe slightly edging that out for ADV status. Both are nice.

You might want to give him tanks you coiled yourself, since that really results in a lot more flavor, im discovering. I use Kanger protank II minis and the stock heads are..well..crap. But redone w/ 30 gauge Kanthal wire and some CVS sterile cotton as a wick..and POW! Flavor!

AH, also: a 10ml bottle with the needle tip on it, just fill those up for him, then he can have a MUCH easier time loading a tank. Much less messy! You can get a buncha bottles like that for cheap.

If eyesight or shaking is an issue, a blunt needle syringe of the size to fill his topper would be helpful. Maybe a bottom coil like evod, pt, davide one with easy to change coils?

Hell im not old but this thing *is* a godsend

http://www.harborfreight.com/jumbo-helping-hands-with-led-lights-65779.html

I took the arm off with the clips on it, dont need that, and I removed the solidering stand...one screw held it in.

So what im left with is a massive magnifying glass/LED light thing with a heavy base on it where currently my cotton ball ive used for wicks lives, and my 5/64ths drill bits.

I am ready to coil!

Anyway, this little gem also has a 6x magnifying glass in it, its small but i close one eye and move my coil/head around and BAM! I can see super duper up close, no sweat.

Plus: its 7 bucks + tax at Harbor freight. They ought to give me a discount, ive tried to tell a lot of folks about how well this helps w/ vaping gear :p

You might try a Vision Vivi-Nova 3.5 mL may be a consideration. They are big enough to make it easy to remove the top, and can be refilled from any dropper top bottle. They hold enough juice to likely be a once a day fill.

If you bought him a few Vivi's, the coils can last a month or more without any maintenance. You might need to replace the coils for him but only after a few months of usage, if that fits your situation.

They will look a big strange on an eGo battery, but most of us older folk could care less what it looks like if it works properly...:)

Okay, how about a much simpler solution ... get some different flavored juices, figure out which ones he likes, then fill a bunch of blank 510 cartos with the ones he likes.

You can get blanks in many colors and lengths, so with luck you can fill each color with a different flavor so that he can differentiate between them easily. Maybe you can work a deal with a shop to buy them in bulk at a discount price.

Ultimately, it may be more expensive than a tank, but as long as he doesn't burn the filling in the cartos, or throw them away, you can refill them later. If you think he is up to filling the cartos with a needle tipped bottle, you can teach him how to do it, and if not, then you can drop by every so often for a visit and refill them all at one time.

HTH!

I generally believe a top-fill clearomizer like a Innokin iClear 16 or 30, or Vision Vivi Nova (& mini) clearomizer is the easiest juice attachment for a novice to learn. Wide open area to drop juice into, easy to clean under running water, relatively easy to learn how to replace coil heads. If he has a computer with internet access he can bookmark a You Tube video on how to care for the one he gets. These are best on an Ego battery.

Best grape flavor I've come across (and I've tried several from different vendors) is the Classic Grape from Smokeless Image.

I don't know what he's capable of doing. Also don't know how often you can head over to help him. I do know that simple cartos are very easy to use. You just have to fill them before they dry out and obviously you have to know when they are drying up. If he can drip juice into one himself you might be able to figure out a way to make that work. Or fill a hundred of them and have him change them out often enough so they are not damaged.

ETA: devauto, you beat me to it, but I like the way you think :thumb:

How much do you think he will vape in a week? Are you close enough to visit once a week and fill several tanks? The IClears 30s that bad suggected hold alot of juice and if he had several he could just switch them out and you could fill them. If you can manage a visit once a week or even once every two weeks to fill the tanks YOu will be the one to get as much from the visit as he will. You two can vape together and you can spend some quality time with your Grampa which is PRICELESS. The two of you might learn things you never knew about each other. If there is a B&M close by maybe you could take him there and ask if he buys his juice there would they fill up his tanks. I think it's great what you are doing and I hope this helps.

OK - Idea - Combine these ideas. FIll up a ton of blank cartos. Go with colors or labels to differentiate flavors. Colors would probably be the easiest - purple = grape etc. And get him one each of a vivi nova and an iclear 30, fill them with him and tell him to fill it if he is comfortable or just use the cartos if that is easier. When you check back in on him, then see what he has used and if he did or did not fill either of the 2 tanks and move from there.

It really is hard to find the right things without spending some money on this one. Evods dont leak you could also order like....14-20? if you are going once a week so he has 3-4 ml per day - prefill them all and refill once a week. Add more or take away as needed. He can atleast see the liquid through the windows in those and they are about 2 bucks on fasttech. Also they are wider. Not sure about his hands, but wider tends to be easier to "hold on to" to remove and attach new tanks.

And RaceGun is right- Priceless!

CE5's are really easy to fill, you don't have to worry about juice going down the hole or anything. I know they're throw aways, but they're also relatively cheap and if it will keep him happily vaping and off the ciggies I say go for it. He should be able to refill them relatively easily even with shaky hands.

How about a 6ml bottom feeder box mod with a good sized feed button on it I saw one somewhere. Madvapes maybe, and a nice atty for it, not sure hh357 maybe. You could ask in the reo forums for a good low priced atty he can change out every couple days.

Funny I was over in Harvard Thursday for for work. :)

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Screw on cartridge and vape. When it starts tasting bad, unscrew it and put it someplace safe, then screw on a new one. You come buy and couple of weeks and refill them all for him. Depending on how stable his hands are, maybe he can even refill them himself with a little practice.

While top coil clearomizers are my least favorite delivery devices, I have to agree with the big "3.5" ml Vivi Nova with a beauty ring on those eGos. As said, it has a large opening up top for filling and is dead simple to use and maintain.

If they are regulated, 3.3V eGos, I recommend at least trying 1.8Ω heads to get 6 watts of coil power. The 2.4Ω provide only as much or less than a cigalike (4.5W) with that voltage, but if he's happy with a 2.4Ω, it's what you want.

I think the best idea would be for him to learn to fill his own cartos/cartotanks, if he is able. I won't write him off just for age (good post tj99959), but since people age in different ways, something such as eye sight or any number of things that could cause overly shaky hands might render that difficult, frustrating or even impossible. If you can set him up with enough cartos/tanks for a weekly/monthly visit, I would think that would be your 2nd best option... and a great excuse to spend some time hanging out with him. My last thought would be to get a bunch of cartos, fill them, mail them & have him mail them back for refilling. That last suggestion would just require a pretty large number of cartos to be economically viable, but if you're just not able to make the trip that often, it is what it is. I know V4L does prefilled cartos in a bunch (perhaps all) of their flavors, so that could also be an option, but also on the pricey side.

Whichever way it goes, I hope it works out for you guys.
