May I ask why you are concerned and what have you been reading? I'm trying to learn but to be honest, I haven't researched PG beyond a couple of articles and I would be interested in learning some more about it. What little I have read seems to be mostly positive. Scroll down to the -Allergic reaction- paragraph and then the -Possible air germicide- paragraph in this link for example. Vape on. :vapor: JD Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah, I'm kind of interested in hearing your concerns too.
I haven't really heard anything bad about propylene glycol and I've been around awhile now.
:)

I know it is a humectant, so it will dehyrdate you, but that is true of VG as well.
And I know it is somewhat of a irritant, which is why you get more throat hit from it than from VG juices.

But I haven't gotten sick once in the last 17 months since I started vaping, and I attribute some of that to the propylene glycol.

The Clouds of Vapor COV4 and American e-Liquid Sweet Tobacco are the best I've tried so far. Both 100% VG. The COV juices are thinner and lighter. I love the American, but I don't think I'll be ordering more due to the thickness.

It may just be me and my experiences with VG, but "Thinner and lighter" usually means its been cut with PG. VG is extremely thick on its own.

I like both PG and VG and both for different reasons. PG seems to give a better throat hit, VG gives more clouds of vapor. I have found that VG juice's flavor seems muted, but PG seems to hold flavor well. This might depend on the juice you are vaping, and what device/voltage you are vaping at. I have heard of many people having allergies to PG, but I haven't had any troubles with it.

A humectant shouldn't dehydrate you. A humectant draws moisture to itself and moisturizes. Should be a good thing. Glycerin is a humectant.

It actually seems to do the exact opposite. It absorbs moisture, therefore drying out anything it touches. Now, the VG shouldn't dehydrate you, but PG certainly will...

There is so much back and forth on this PG or VG issue.. I researched pretty well as a focused approach to my decision ot begin vaping.. Being a Clinical Lab Scientist.. ( but not a chemist beyond clinical chemistry of course) ... The main concern outside of allergic reactions anyone should have are the chances of a hyperosmality condition occurring in vivo.. This can lead to serious deleterious physiological issues and pathogenesis of unwanted conditions... That being said the quantity needed to achieve this ... Based on how it is broken down in the body are so very high that to meet the xx/ kg saturation levels needed would be all but impossible via vaping normal formulations...
I do prefer VG especially since I already before vaping had used herbal glycerites in inhalation treatments ...
But I see no immediate concerns for anyone save the few who have allergic predispostions...
Very tired excuse spelling and grammar ..
iPad typing can be a pain. ::laugh:
