I have been vaping for over a year, but have used only T2, T3 and Protanks. I got a carto tank and the vape is far superior to any of these. Problem is, after about a week it starts gurgling and flooding and leaking out of the 510 connector.

Is this part of the normal lifespan of a carto, or is this another problem? The carto used is a smok XL LR in Stainless steel. I ground 2 small horizontal slots just like on the PBusardo video.

Any ideas or is it just time to replace?

I agree with everything sawlight said above. Depending upon how thick the juice is (higher vg ratio), how dark it is, and how much particulate matter from the flavoring agents used, the filler material begins to clog up in the carto and it becomes a tighter pull. To compensate, the vapor does harder pulls which brings too much juice into the carto and it becomes flooded. It's time to change out for a new carto.

Less thick juices and clearer juices will allow a carto to last much longer.

I'll also give props to the Ikenvape cartomizers. They are made from superior grade materials and seem to last longer than Smoktech or Boge.
