Hey everyone. I want to start learning and get myself a rba atty, to save me money and have fun at the same time. I know nothing about RBA/rda or any rebuildabe things related to this. I have been watching some videos on different rebuildable atomizer and I think it would be a great thing to do on my spare time. Like I said, I have little to no experience on RBA/rda atty, but want to start.

Budget: $60ish. I can bump it up a bit more if is worth it on performance and quality.

Anything you guys wanna add, feel free to do so! Will keep doing my research till I find the right RBA atty.

Thanks!

The Kayfun is a good place to start as far as tank style attys, but most droppers are even simpler than the Kayfun.

I only use my Reo now, so most of my current experience is with my RM2 and the BF Cyclone. However, prior to this, I liked my KFL and Ithaka style attys.

I would suggest a dripper or a KFL.

Depends if you want an RDA (dripper) or an RBA. I've been using the Igo-L and it's easy to rebuild, made for building single coils and it's pretty cheap as well, got mine for $10 from litecigusa.

If you want to get into a genesis style the only thing I can recommend is the RSST, since it's the only genesis I've used. I've also heard the AGA-T2 is good as well.

I actually want to get a RBA. Seems a bit easier to use IMO. I'll think I'll just pick up a Kraken clone and a IGO-L and try it out.

What wick/wires do you guys recommend? Prefer a balance ratio of vapor and flavor.

I use 32g kanthal and it works fine, but I like my ohms to be around what I can use on my regulated mods. Idk if you have a regulated or mechanical mod but you could always get some 32g then a lower gauge (maybe 28 or 30) to see which you like best. If your going for higher ohms then with lower resistance wire, your gonna need to go for more wraps for your coil. As far as wick, I'd go with either organic cotton balls or cotton yarn, it's all I use and it provides a great flavor and is pretty to work with, it's also quite cheap as well :)

Well I am using a Vamo v2 right now, but I am gonna be selling it and getting a Nemesis Clone (Probably Hcigar).

So pretty much lower awg, means less ohms, and higer awg means more ohms per wrap or so?

Yes. The bigger the gauge number, the higher the ohms.
Just to give you an idea, if you use a similar number of wire wraps, lets say 5 wraps, around a 2mm dia coil.

Disclaimer: These are totally generic numbers, but will give you a sense of what I'm trying to relate.......

32ga would get me around 1.8ohm
30ga around 1.2ohm
28ga around 0.8ohm.

If you've got 60 bux burning a hole in your pocket, I would start with a dripper first.

Can't go wrong with an igoL.
Might as well pick up 2 of them.

Next, get an ohm meter.
You're gonna need to know what ohm you are wrapping to.
Or, keep the vamo, and use that to test your ohms. That'll save you from needing to spend money on a meter.

Get wire in several gauges.
32, 30 and 28 are good ones to have.
Order your wire from the seller temco on ebay.
Super fast shipping and cheap enough to get several 50ft rolls of different sizes.

Get your nemmy clone.

Don't forget good batteries.
Can't go wrong with a couple 18650 AW 1600mah cells. Rtd vapor is a good place to get em.

Here is my reasoning.........
You have 2 drippers.
A few gauges of wire.
Use vamo for checking ohm.
Wrap with 32ga wire and vape that on the vamo.
Use your second dripper to play around with lower ohm setups on your nemmy....but not without good high drain batteries.

Save the genny style tanks for after you get a feel for wrapping.
They can be a serious headache, and can be frustrating when you are starting out.
If you really have your heart set on a rebuildable tank, save up for a kayfun lite or russian 91%. You will thank me later.

Correct. Thicker wire means less resistance, thinner means more resistance. Lower gauge wire is thicker than higher gauge wire. With all else equal, to reach the same resistance with two different wire gauges, you will need more wraps with the thicker wire (lower gauge) than the thinner wire (higher gauge).

that setup is under $30 but if you already have a decent device that can handle 4.2 volts at 2.8 amps you can run the mini octopus on it with this setup.
dont spend to much at first. lots of people try to get into RBA / RDA and dont like messing around with the device once in a while. that said.. some people really enjoy tinkering with PV equipment..

Oh yea, left out the part about wicks.
I absolutely love organic cotton for wick material.
A bag of cotton balls will last quite some time.

I just bought a bag of organic cotton balls from Walgreens today... $3.99 for nearly a lifetimes supply. It gives an awesome vape!!

I've been keeping an eye on those Kraken clones :p I have an RSST and it's been working great. It's very simple to build on.

I thin I might pick up a RSST later on down the road, unless they will have some good sale near Christmas lol.

get an IGO-W its very good and not very expensive. From there you can move on to others. Out of the five i own, my IGO-W gets the most work.

What's the difference between all those IGO?

Which one did you pick up? I wasn't sure if the cotton ball at walgreens are any good. And did you boil it?

I'm hoping I'm not too late to advise against the Kraken clone - it's okay, but requires that you have an adjustable positive on your mod (or are just lucky with your mod's positive pin height). It's -okay-, in a you-get-what-you-pay-for way.

If you're planning to go genny-style, RSST's can be picked up for cheap, from local vendors, so shipping will be much faster as well, and should be more problem-free than the kraken clone.

(I have a kraken clone, and pretty much every rba clone ever offered on fasttech, and several non-clone rba's of various types - the kraken is one of the last ones I'd advocate for out of the bunch, if that says anything. At this point, I assume that any genny-style clone from FT is going to require significant alteration / modification out of the box to get working acceptably (and I'm okay with that, I just would imagine that you'd want trouble-free out of the box)).

EDIT: okay, I -was- too late. Meh! As to your other questions: cotton balls are pretty universally okay, be they walmart / wallgreens / cvs / piggly wiggly / etc. Boil if you want to, I never have.

As to RDA's, I'm a fan of the helios. Nice big build area, nice breathing.

As to the RSST, check gotsmok, they were advertising a deal on RSST's for something like 15$, which is a steal.

First thing you need to do is find what style of rba you like. Then check them all out and go with what you like. I like bottom coil rba's so I went with the Russian. A great first rba. Easy to build and most build style work great on it.

The best thing to do with wire, is to get s little bit of each, and find what guage you like best for your builds. I ended up using 28 awg Kanthal, since my builds range from .5-1.5 ohms, and it suits my needs best.

Wick, I currently use cotton balls, cheap, easy to use, clean taste, wicks well. I'm trying hemp fiber next, but waiting on vape mail for that. lol. 90% of my builds are micro coils in one form or another. I also like using SS mesh hybrid build on some rba's. One has to play and experiment a bit to find what produces the best vape for them, but that usually gets defined quickly, and focuses your intrests for further purchases.

As with anything with vape, if you go with quality it can last a lifetime.

Good info thank you!

Do you have a link to the seller on ebay? a search didn't bring anything up
