Hi,

I'm not a noob but I'm just getting into RBA's and rda's. I never buy junk as a rule so I want to buy some decent products that will last for a while. My top choices right now are:

1. kayfun Lite Plus
2. Russian 91%
3. Z-Atty Pro 2.1
4. Origen RDA - I would probably buy this plus one of the top three.

I would appreciate opinions on what RBA to start out with in addition to the Origen plus any opinions on the Origen.

tanks in advance!

#1 & #2 are similar enough that choice between the two is a matter of argument and personal preference. Both are pressure systems, and will require some finesse to get working properly, which may lead to some frustration.
#3 is a genny, and those are fairly simple to build and once built, just work. So I'd start there.

I understand that you're looking to buy 'real', but do realize that not all clones are junk - many, perhaps even most these days, are 1-for-1 copies which perform 100% like the 'real'. Valid reasons to get 'real' instead of a clone would be to support the original designer, pride of owning something limited / cachet, or for a better surface finish (IE, it may look somewhat nicer).

That said, if you're interested in getting into the pressure-based systems, I'd say get the genny, and then drop another 20$ on a fogger v2 or v3 - they aren't a clone, they're an original design, and they work well - same barriers as the KFL+ or the R91%, in that finding a good build / setup can be finnicky, but the price of entry is far lower.

Thanks for the advice shoggot. Odd, though that most of the people I talk to that have Kayfuns say that they are easier to setup than gennies. Maybe just personal preference...

Actually.... FoggerV2 = Taifun GT. FoggerV2 is a 99% clone and NOT an 100% original design. BUT it does work well.
OP,
KFL+ for the win.
KF mini 2.1 for smaller size and dripper option.

Have fun

Derp! Didn't know that. Actually, guess I did but forgot.

Edit: Okay, took a look at a Taifun... Mechanically similar, but definitely not a clone - inspired by, yes. Attempt to copy appearance, definitely not.

Fogger - bottom ring AFC, pyrex tank, one-piece cap doubling as holddown. Looks like inside the chimney it's much the same, though, and same wicking. I'm basing this on a few blurry shots of the Taifun, but so far, if they were the same price, I'd still take the fogger.

It's a clone the same way the Rocket is a clone, I guess, and that is called a clone, so... eh. I've always thought the attempts to mirror appearances were the most odious things about clones, so I feel pretty good about the fogger.

EDIT 2: I forgot to note that the fogger is broken out of the box and requires a fix before it's safe to use, it's highly susceptible to shorting. It's easy enough to fix, but it's a thing... Quite possible the Taifun GT doesn't have that issue, and that'd be a selling point.

The KFL+ is my current champion. It is exceedingly easy to set up. Get yourself a decent multimeter, 28g or 30g Kanthal, some silica or cotton, watch some youtube videos and enjoy. Plus, the KF's in my experience are excellent for cotton wicks because they never seem to let the wicks dry out, no matter how hard I try - with chain vaping and whatnot.
