Hey all, I'm new to vaping, been smoking cigarettes for over 10 years now. My husband quit, and started using an e-cig, and has been hopeful it would work for me as well. My issue is that it kills my throat. I tried a pg/VG blend with nicotine, but couldn't even take a little hit without coughing my lungs out. I bought a disposable vapur with no nicotine, that's 100% VG, and I had no issues with it. So I figured the pg was an issue, since I read some people have trouble with it. I got an Ego Twist with kanger protank mini (first gen) with 1.8 ohm coil and some 100% VG, with 18 strength nicotine. It's still making me cough, even when I take a small hit. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this? I would love to switch to vaping, but because of the issue I'm having, I'm still smoking cigarettes. :(
Thanks.

First off ... Welcome to ECF ... you'll find MANY helpful people here and support to help you on your quest to be smoke free. And now to you question ... it could possibly be the PG. Some suggestions might be not to inhale like a analog cigarette. Try drawing it into your mouth 1st then hold it a sec or two, then blow it out your nose. In vaping, the nicotine is absorbed though the mouth and nasal membranes, NOT that much at all in the lungs as in cigarette smokeing. When I 1st started vaping, (I was a 2 PAD for 30 years), I too coughed quite often. We all did. It's because your lungs are not use to the moisture that is present in ecig vapor. That should soon pass, just like it did when you 1st started smoking regular cigarettes.

Another cause of coughing or too strong a throat hit is, Nicotine level. PG and Nic level is the main causes of throat hit that could cause you to cough. Maybe lower the Nic level to 12mg or 6mg. It's tough at 1st when you're finding whats right for you ...we have ALL been through it ... just keep trying and make sure to ask questions here if you need help!!

You might prefer lighter vape than 1.8ohms at 3.2v can provide, perhaps try a 2-2.5ohm atomizer head. Are you trying flavours like fruits and stuff? I find those generally more mild (other than the citrus ones). I love the inhale myself, part of the pleasure of our dirty habit :p But you could try the above suggestion about vaping like it's a cigar, just in to the mouth. Try unflavoured 100% VG possibly? It's all about experimenting and finding what works for you. Though I do hope you can find something that works an avoid the cigarettes.
