Hey,

So I am a total beginner (besides some disposables) and want to buy my first vaporizer. I'm on a bit of a budget so would like a starter pipe kit. I have my eyes on these ones: kamry k1000 (wood), dse601 and mt618. So which one of these is best?

I also saw the smoketech mod one, but that's just a mod piece right? So I would also have to buy the atomizer and what not separately?

I have some experience with the k1000 cause my cousine has one and that doesn't look difficult to understand or use/refill. And I did like it. Some though, I think the 618 and 601 don't have a button u have to push to start the heat. I'm use to this from using disposable ecigs. Is either way, button or breath sensor, better?

Are there any other good epipes iv over looked?

Thanks for your help guys

Manual or automatic batts (button vs no button) is totally user preference. A lot of people prefer the manual because it gives a little more "control" over the vapor production. But it really just comes down to what you want. It used to be that it took the atomizer a couple seconds to heat up with an automatic. Well times change and technology advances, so this is no longer really an issue.

As for pipe recommendations, not my thing so I'll let someone else answer that one.

I registered on this forum specifically to share my experience with the 618 e-pipe and hope this will help others.

I purchased a 618 e-pipe kit from eBay for about $45 and was impressed with the pipe. However, it didn't take long to realize the plastic tank and atomizer core that came with this pipe was inferior. After getting no more than a day or two use from just one atomizer, I started to look for an alternative. Because both my wife and I use the Kanger Protank 2 Minni and are very pleased with them, I looked into converting my 618 with a Protank 2 (not mini) tank and atomizer. Purchased for under 10 bucks.

WOW . . . what a pipe! Now I have a glass tank and can choose the preferred atomizers. Plus, the typical Protank atomizers are very affordable. I found the original e-618 cores to be about 4-5 bucks each so needless to say, I am now enjoying my pipe and buying replacement atomizers for around 70 cents on eBay..

One drawback, unless you are a bit handy, the e-618 plastic mouthpiece can not be used. You just might be happy with the standard Protank 2 tip but I personally like the look of the complete 618 pipe -- it is a fantastic design. The 618 comes with two plastic tips (mouthpiece) so if you feel comfortable doing so, drill one of them out to fit OVER the Protank 2 tip. I used black electrical tape to hold it in place for the test and have since used a black epoxy to permanently bond them together. It looks great.

Thanks so much. This was very helpful.

After looking at some reviews it seemed to me like the protank/minis are the best for the price and wiuld love to use one with a pipe. I did wonder how the protank would stack up to te atomizers that came with the pipes. Have u tried any other pipes?

Thanks

Glad my post was helpful. I have not tried any other products and selected the 618 because I wanted a realistic looking pipe and the auto-draw feature. Of coarse the price was a factor as well. I have posted a couple of pictures so if you or any others decide to revamp a 618 pipe -- this shows you exactly what to expect. I don't have a picture after the epoxy but would be happy to do so if you or somebody wants one.

As you see, the Protank is stainless so it doesn't match the plated fittings standard on the e-618. I have a plating machine but will probably just leave it as is. And remember, this tank is not the Mini. I am not an expert on the different atomizers but I do know the Kanger products are popular and widely used globally.

It's a simple and easy setup. I suggest ordering the kit ($42.99 on eBay) and the Protank 2 ($8.00 eBay) and skip the learning lesson I went through -- go straight to the retrofit. You'll have a total of $50.99 invested, which includes the shipping. Maybe you might latter upgrade to a custom pipe like you see on this forum so keep everything in case.

As somebody already mentioned, manual or automatic is somewhat personal but I personally like it better than pushing the button on my pen type setup. I find it to be more natural and I vape my 618 just as I would/did a tobacco pipe -- except I don't have to keep relighting it. There are a few more things to learn about all this and I am sure the guys on this forum can chime in. Basically, you should understand the different types of juice and how they vape in different setups. There are atomizers of different resistance that will help you tweak your pipe. That is the real beauty of the Protank as the atomizers are abundantly available and cheap. Best to order a couple of each and test with some juices that you like. Again, the forum can help you on this. For me, I do not use any nicotine and I like the "no PG" products from Johnson Creek which also has samples. Don't be intimidated by all this jargon, you'll catch on quickly.

I have a K1000 (black) and love it matter of fact a few people I know now are going to buy one because I let em hold it and poof I hear the I want one. The weight is ruffly 10.2 grams so it's not something you would run around in with it in your pocket. Full metal body and the tip is metal as well. Vapes good too, Only thing I see it could have shifted the air holes on the bottom to the side because my finger goes under the and blocks the holes but that I can fix by moving my finger totally under the pipe.

As a youtuber says (indoorsmoker) It defiantly looks like you have more authority.

I have a K1000 with (added) an airflow and Kanger Protank II and a traditional pipe rubber disposable soft tip to hold my curved flat composite tip and I love it. I mean- love it! I don't imagine you will love the drip tip that comes with it or the top coil tankomizer.

how easily can i switch the top coil tankomizer to a nautilus or protank? and what are these rubber tips and how do you set one up?

thanks guys
