I've been smoking for the past 10 years. I am in the military, so the effects of smoking are taking a toll on my physical fitness. I have tried using smokeless tobacco products, but sticking a nasty wad in my lip is quite disgusting and hurts my gums. I've tried quitting using the patch, the gum, and every time, i fall back because I just get pleasure from having that cigarette.

I friend posted up an article about these e-cigarettes on myspace, and I figured, this could be the coolest thing ever. I figure if I can't quit smoking, then this seems like a safer alternative.

Now here's my problem. There's so many brands of e-cigarettes to choose from!!! Which one give you the most bang for the buck? I read some of these posts in the forum about the batteries never last as long as they say, and you'll need more cartridges than the manufacturer suggests.

So, after careful consideration, I figured I'd go with the njoy brand. It seems widely available. I don't know much about the prices. I don't really know what I'm doing to tell you the truth.

I smoke about two packs a day of Marlboro lights. What do ya'll recommend I purchase?

Just a few of questions for you:

1. What is your general location?
2. What is it about the Njoy that draws you to it?
3. Are you looking for a heavy throat hit?

Keep in mind that you may or may not give up the analogs right away. It took some of us a while to wean ourselves off them, others were able to go straight to the e-cig and never look back. So take that into consideration as well.

Also my suggestion, since I smoked about the same as you when I switched, is to start out with 11 & 16 mg/ml nicotine carts or liquids to start out with. Try the 11 most of the time and if you seem to be going through it pretty fast, bump it with the 16 every once in a while. (Again, that's what worked for me, others with give you their suggestions.

I am currently deployed to Iraq. And that NJOY website ...... me off since they don't list APO addresses as shipping addresses.

I figured I'd try njoy because it seems to be the easiest to use, and I've been looking for days at all these different brands. I think I probably went with njoy because the website is easiest to navigate.... except for when I got to the last part I can't put APO AE in as a state.

Getting packages over here takes about 3-4 weeks, so when I finally do decide to purchase some from someone that actually ships to soldiers deployed overseas, i want to be able to purchase enough so that i won't run out and be stuck without supplies.

On the njoy website, I figured a starter kit, two extra batteries, and about 30 cartridges would be a good start. i was looking at spending $170 for all that.

Shoot...I remember one supplier saying that ship APO but I can't remember who it was and the search is not coming up with anything.

asridave's suggestion is a good one, I would agree with him on that model.

Which ever model you decide to get, get extra atomizers as well as batteries. The batteries are rechargeable and the atomizers are likely to give out faster. Don't know what your electricity availability is where you are but I know it can be flaky, can you surge protect the chargers?

(And watch out, you know how that fine sand gets into every ... thing. (Husbands been 3 times now, all I hear about is the damn sand.))

I'll keep looking and see who's shipping APO/FPO. If someone else knows speak up, please. :)

Jova3, the NJoy costs more than other ecigs of identical or even better quality. Plus, they don't even sell liquid because they want people to constantly have to buy their exhorbitantly expensive cartridges, when in reality using liquid to refill is not only much more cost effective, but results in much better tasting vapor.

I would also suggest you go with a 901 or a classic penstyle from one of the vendors you see in the Suppliers section here on this forum. The initial kit will be much less money, and then you can stock up on liquid and at least a couple of spare atomizers as well.

Better yet, go straight for the gold, since your waiting time for purchases will be so long - and get a Screwdriver. The kit is about 150.00 US, but that already comes with 2 atomizers instead of one, and a bottle of liquid as well. It's maker, Trog, does send them all around the world.

If you are interested in really good vapor, long battery life, much cheaper battery replacement cost (around $6-7 dollars for 4 at Deal Extreme instead of the $15.00 or $20.00 each that regular ecig batteries will cost you), and plentiful and relatively cheap atomizer replacements, then you can't go wrong with the Screwdriver.

You will need to purhase extra liquid somewhere also however; the average usage here is 2 ml per day, with some using 1 ml and some 3 ml.

You can see the Screwdriver by clicking the graphic link in my sig. But do look at some of the suppliers that list here to get an idea of prices for liquid, ecig kits and replacement parts before you make your decision.

Best of luck to you!

YES!!! Yvilla good advice!

There are many great e-cigs out there and many bad ones. Crusing these forums will give you a good indication of the good, the bad and the ugly. As already stated above, the NJoy is higher priced (I just got one myself) and I bought it for the same reason- ease of use and also for the warranty.

Now that I have the NPro, I've already ordered 2 additional e-cigs (Janty and a penstyle from puresmoker.com + liquid). They key here is to make sure you buy in quantity since it will take a while for things to get to you. Atomizers are considered disposable for the most part so stock up on 3-4 of those + extra batteries of whatever you chose and include plenty of juice. The ultimate problem here is that whereas most of us can order an e-cig, try it, return it or order another one as well as test liquids- your current location makes shipping a pain. DSE901's are pretty standard and have a decent track record. The SCREWDRIVER (yes in caps) is an amazing, vapor producing monster but make sure you order plenty of liquid as it burns through it! It's what you'd get if Tim the Toolman Taylor vaped.

As far as Njoy, I would advise against it. If you wanted something like it you could go with the RN4081 (same thing) for much less as well as get spare atomizers / equipment / carts or liquid very easily. NJoy does NOT sell spare atomizers- warranty replacement only and in your location that could be frustrating!

Hello,
First off this is my first post and I have already been vaping for about 2 weeks with what I though was a DSE901, but I according to the box I got a Smoking Anywhere device. I have three batteries and extra atomizers and have been dripping, however this ecig's batteries die within a couple of hours and have to be re-carted or dripped every 4-5 draws, very inconvenient and not very satisfying. So with this situation I have wasted over $70 dollars and want to get serious with e-smoking. I am a hardcore at least 1 pack a day menthol smoker and do not plan to try and use this to quit analog smoking. However if I do it will be a nice benefit but for now I would like to move on to a higher level e-cig. I really do like e-smoking even with the issues I am having and have found I am reaching for it instead of analogs. So could anyone help me figure which e-cig to purchase? I am looking at the Ruyan V8 metallic blue, Rio Red e-cig, Janty. The Ruyan V8 is from a supplier in China and I am concerned about the shipping and customs however I have received a nice email from them that it would ship through Hong Kong. And does anyone have any experience with VaporNine, Ecig Supply in China or Janty. I am looking for lots of vapor and a strong menthol flavor, and I want a great looking colorful e-cig as well. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at the DSE 901, and it seems a little big. I looked at the Puresmoker website and saw the PeeWee thing and it seems to be smaller and more convenient, this IS just from looking at the pictures, so I don't really know. I am in Iraq, so something simple and small is really what I was looking for. I ordered that starter kit off of the website along with a couple of extra parts, but the atomizers are out of stock. Is there any other place to order atomizers that are compatible with them?
The puresmoker.com PeeWee e-cig seems to be the exact same thing as the NJoy NPRO, and about half the price. 1/4 the price for their cartridges too.

Any other advise?

Hi Jova3,

I am new also, welcome to the site! LOTS of good information out here.

I was looking at the 401 and 901 and watched a bunch of video reviews, and ended up going with the 901. It just seems to have a better reputation in working with as well as having a better battery life. If you aren't in a position to be near an outlet (as suggested above), that could be an issue for you.

I went through AltSmoke and PureSmoker, both of which are linked below.

Best wishes

Since you're in Iraq the 'small' attraction might be misplaced for you. The smaller it is, the shorter battery and cartridge life. That means more recharging and cart changing/filling, which is probably counterproductive for being in Iraq.

but then again, couldn't a couple of extra batteries and cartridges fit in a cigarette box? I always have a pack of cigarettes on me. missions rarely rarely last longer than a day.

i've already ordered it.... so any advice on the product i ordered? and where can i get more atomizers besides the puresmoker.com site?

Well i too am deployed and i'll tell you a DSE801 is a good choice. The pen style holds more liquid and battery life. Especially since you wont have all the time in the world to swap your dead battery for a charged one. Also the pen style is awesome because it fits right in your pen pocket so you dont have to worry about losing it. (unless you lose pens all the time). I bought 2 batteries, 4 atomizers, about 10 cartridges and a bottle of 24mg liquid. Nothing broke on me yet you just have to be careful about cleaning the atomizer and not break it. MRAP air tanks are great for blowing out the atomizer because its crazy air pressure. anywho the 24mg liquid i still smoke most of the day and crave an analog every now and then. You'll have to use willpower to stop the cravings and give in to the coolness of the e-cig. If you have a lot of time overseas it may be worth it to buy a starter kit and extra stuff for cheaper from a website and have it sent home then send it to you. It will take a little longer but may be worth it if you can't find the model you want that ships apo.
