need help/info on D.I.Y E-Juices

I have gotten into mechanical mods this past month I was fine buying my own e-juice when I had a small pen, but i have gotten into making my own mixes since I've been using a lot more. most of the citrus mixes are great but when I try to make a simple strawberry or blueberry it does not have the full sweetness of the store bought brands. the flavors are there just not as sweet and rich. I noticed some people who do their own mixes are using some type of sweetener i was just curious if that is what I'm missing in my mixes. If anybody can throw some info my way it would be greatly appreciated.

I would second ethyl maltol, it's what's used in cotton candy and it's a very nice sweetener.
