Alright guys i been vaping for about 2 months now and 2 weeks ago i found out you can rebuild coils so i went to my local vaping store and bought a 2.5mm silica wick and a 32 gauge kanthal wire, i have a protank 3 dual coil and i rebuilded my first coil and worked fine no problems and i started to rebuild my 2nd coil that came with my protank 3 package and i hooked it up on my elego-t battery and the light started to flash 5-10 times i have no idea what the cause is and threw that wick and wire out and make another one same thing happened again if any of you been through this or know what i did/do wrong please leave a comment and help out a beginner! thanks alot!

Because your rebuilt coils are not going to necessarily be in the range of 2.0 to 2.5 Ω, you will need to have a mod which can read your Ω on the coils and adjust accordingly. IMHO, the simplest and least expensive option would be Vamo V5 Variable Voltage/Wattage Mod / APV Stainless Steel If you do not want to go to that expense, and still want to rebuild coils, you will need at least SmokTech Omnitester

Never try rebuilding coils without something that can test what you build.

Alright thanks, i ordered a vamo v5 and a nenemis with a igo-m drip tip from fasttech they should be here in 2 weeks hopefully

Vamo v5 full kit costed me 53$ CAD
And nenemis with igo-m 40$ CAD

Guess i gotta wait till i get my vamo so i start rebuilding :(

Vamo is a good choice. What you should pick up is a digital multimeter. Mods like the vamo can read your ohms - but if you have a short you risk shorting your mod.
Get a digital multimeter - there are plenty of videos on the internet that show how to use them - they aren't hard to use. You can check your ohms and your battery voltage - which is also important. Here's a digital multimeter video for you:

A vamo will not fire on any coil below 1.2 ohms. If you have a short, it will tell you promptly and will not fire. It can check ohms below what it's designed on, but it will not fire. It's impossible to short out a vamo (unless you drop it in water). Wait for the vamo, you'll like it. :)

I have two Vamos. I have had them over a year. :) Yes, they have short circuit protection - they are not indestructible. I'm not talking about low ohms, I'm talking about shorts. Yes, you can short out a Vamo with an unstable coil. The OLED will read "short' and it wont fire. I know of a case where the Vamo stayed stuck on that reading and would not work after being shorted. Why risk a mod when you can pick up a digital multimeter - they don't cost too much.

Do yourself a favor and spend some time learning about ohms law, volts/watts and battery safety if you are going to be rebuilding coils and using them on an unregulated device.

Pbusardo and Sub Ohm Safety The safety section starts around 16:00 minutes into the video. And check the links he has listed under this video for some more valuable information. That concludes my rant for the day!:2c::2c:

I am studying auto mechanics and about 2 weeks ago we finished our electrical chapter which includes the ohm law:) i already did do my self the favour thanks for bringing it up:)

Great choices. I think you ordered the kit with the 18350 batteries. I primarily use 18650 batteries, with 18350 batteries for emergency backup, they drain pretty quickly. 18650 lasts for more than a day, so you can change them every morning.

When I test a coil, I first ask it what the resistance is. If it is 1.2 or above, then I give it a test fire. If it lights up and stays lit for a few seconds, it is good. With my budget, I can't get an ohm reader, but I am doing fine without. I have a backup Vamo put away.

I bought two multimeters. For the price, they either didn't work, or I couldn't understand them. I returned both. With you taking a course in auto mechanics, you will eventually need one anyway, and be taught how to use it.

I get consistent results using this method:

Even if you get into rebuilding coils, you are going to need some spares sitting around, so that you can recoil a bunch at once. http://www.discountvapers.com/kanger-protank-mini-aero-uni-coil-heads/
