Hello all,

Switched from analog to vaping at the start of February so still kinda new to this. I'm really getting frustrated by my current gear. Once again I was let down today by my clearomizers to the point where I had to borrow a couple of analogs from a co-worker for my 3 hour ride home...

I don't know what it is, but for some reason both my Kanger Mini Pro Tank 2 v2 and my back-up Aspire BDC flooded terribly. The Pro Tank is my main vape and for some reason, it lost 1/2 to 2/3rds of my juice somewhere. It didn't soak my shirt pocket so I can only imagine it's in my eGo battery...

This has been repeatedly happening to me and I need to find an alternate means of vaping during the day that won't leave me stranded with nothing. What would be a suitable alternative that I can count on, cartomizers?

I used Protanks 2 and they do leak a little but not nearly as bad as you say. Make sure the coil has the silicon o ring in it, and is tighten on its base, if everything else is where its suppose to be, nice and snug you shouldn't have that problem.
You can also try Iclear 30, or 30S they are amazing but you need to tilt them when running out of juice to keep the wicks saturated, but in my experience no mysterious liquid disappearance.
Remember when filling the protank never reach the center whole or you'll be flooding them

I remember having issues with my mini pro tanks when I was brand new at this. Can you tell us what kind of juices you use? Are they extraordinarily thin? What are the PG/VG ratios? Thicker (more VG) liquids tend to do less leaking for me. They are a bit thicker. I'm talking 50/50 blends really.

Also, do you often rinse out your pro tank? First time I did this, I didn't realize that I had accidentally rinsed away the o-rings that are placed at every spot one piece of the pro tank connects to another. That will definitely cause leaking. Your PT should have come with a couple of replacement rubber o-rings. If not, do you have an older tank (such as an EVOD) to cannibalize an o-ring from?

Additionally, I don't know if there is any truth or reason to this, but when I switched from regular Ego's to Variable Voltage ego's, my problem was alleviated. I think it's because the regular ego's voltage doesn't allow juice to heat up as fast as you suck it down because it is set at only one low voltage. Being able to adjust the voltage (usually to a higher voltage) solved the issue for me, and made my juice taste better.

Also, one more thing....what kind of coils are you using? Just replacements or do you build your own?

I'm sure others will be along but these are just some things to consider.

Thanks all for the quick replies...

For the tank, everything's tight, clean, and all o-rings are present. The coil head this time was a direct kanger replacement (less the flavor wick). The liquid is a 100% VG from Virgin Vapor.

I did build my own head for the Kanger recently and it worked great. 32ga K-1 and a cotton wick. That build was trouble free for 2 weeks and would of kept going except I couldn't leave well enough alone and ruined it while trying to re-wick it. Tried several times since but just can't seem to duplicate what I built before... (remember, I am new at this)

Today was really frustrating because even my Aspire BDC didn't work. I carry that as a back-up and all it did today was sit on the bench until I called it into the game because the Kanger failed. Both of them just kept flooding my battery as quickly as I tore them down and cleared the excess juice. The aspire had a 60/40 blend from another vendor.

I need an all-day solution that won't leave me stranded if this is going to work for me. I do have an iClear 16 but to be honest, those things taste like a**. Cartomizers look like a real pain in the .... but will they give me a trouble free vape? Will they taste as good as my Kanger does? I like the small form factor of the eGo/clearo so that's important but from now on I'm gonna bring my mech and an RDA for back-up. As a service technician I do a LOT of traveling during my work day and it's important that I don't get back into analogs...

I use PT2s. I get a little leakage when I have just filled them and flipped them over to screw on the battery. At that point, I don't think a vacuum has built up in the tank. As I take a few draws on it, juice is pulled through the atomizer and that creates a vacuum that prevents leaks. As soon as I put the tank on the battery, I take a few draws.

When I took my complete PT2 apart for soaking in a bowl, one of the O-rings came out and I didn't see it when taking the parts out to rinse in the sink. It aired the parts out and I reassembled it, put juice in and closed it up...leaked all over. I'm careful about the O-rings now.

People say to tightened the ends just finger tight...I make sure. I really don't have problems.

Just curious...

I live in Upstate NY (Rochester) and today for example, I went to Binghamton, NY (2 1/2 hours to the south east) for my job. Could it possibly be related to climate? Could traveling through High/Low pressure weather systems be reeking havoc with my inner tank pressure? I know it's a stretch but hmmmm... makes me wonder...

I don't know. But, I have heard that people travelling to high altitudes have reported problems with juice just disappearing out of tanks. Not leaking and making a mess, just disappearing.

Maybe you should try something that's not air pressure sensitive, like cartos. I would suggest dripping. But, you shouldn't drip and drive!

Lots of people seem to really like cartomizers or the whole carto-tank setup.

Myself, I've gravitated to the genesis style atomizers, which in my case do not leak, it depends on how you set it up I suppose.

The newer kayfun styled atomizers and the like seem very good, and you simply can't get that sort of taste from clearomizers.

Well, I decided not to give up on my Kanger PT2 Mini. I really like it's small size and I can build coils for it. So far it's been working great! (Knock on wood)...

Last night I was determined to build my own coil and cotton wick since I had good luck with a stock head re-wicked with cotton. After several attempts, I was able to get a good coil built and working. I used 3 turns of 32ga K-1 Kanthal on a 2mm screwdriver and it came in a 1.4ohm! I rolled a pretty tight cotton wick and put it all together and WOW, what a great vape! At that resistance on my eGo battery it should be running at about 9.8 watts so it sort of addresses SchmidtyKy's suggestion of running it hotter.

Today was it's maiden voyage and it worked flawlessly for me all day although it did seem to tear through my juice a bit sooner. All-in-all I'm pretty happy with it though and it was kinda neat vaping something that I built :). It has this really cool hiss, not like the crackle I would get from the stock heads. Plus it puts out these outrageous plumes of vapor with my favorite 100% vg juice :)...

Now that I figured out how to do it, I took all of the trashed heads I had and am rebuilding all of them so I have backups in stock. I built 2 more at 1.4 ohm and a couple at 1.8 ohm (I'll never have to buy heads again:))...

I really like this set-up. It's small and stealthy, kinda like a Ninja Vape....
