My wife likes menthol flavors, and is going nuts lately trying to find her perfect ADV. The flavor she is wanting to mix is melt-away mints. Does anybody have a recipe that tastes like melt-away mints?
Oh, this is a melt-away mint pic for those that may not be sure of what I am talking about.
If I correctly remember the flavor of those - smooth, sweet, cool mint with a hint of vanilla - I'd start with TFA's Mint Candy, around 5% to start and be willing to go as high as 10%.
Tried the mint candy, she says it's missing something.... I think it needs white chocolate and a little french vanilla but would like to see other peoples suggestions.... we'll mix anything if it keeps her off analogs.
Personally, If I was going to make this for myself....I wouldn't use French Vanilla. I would go more with a Marshmallow type. I think the White Chocolate is a good idea. And from what I recall on the taste of these, I would use a little mint and maybe a touch of Candy Cane. (just my )
I made one using TFA creme de menthe. My% was too high so maybe start at 5 & work up from there. I added FA fresh cream to one batch. It had the body I was looking for. I did a batch with FA custard and it had the sweetness I was looking for. I'm thinking about adding both. I'd have to check my notes later at home but I think I added 1% of the FA flavors. Sounds yummy! If you perfect it let us know!
After checking my notes, I used 1% of the Custard and Fresh Cream in a 5ml batch. Two separate batches. I may mix it again in the morning with both those and Creme de Menthe and see how it is.
