I been using Boge cartos since i started vaping. Although i have moved to rba's i still use cartos daily while out at work or out of the house in general. My question is, is there anything that is better? Im confused about the low resistance and high resistance part.... I have a tin mod that says not to use low resistance. How do i know if its high or low? I have no real issues with the boge besides it only lasts a couple days at 4.7v. It doesn't "burn out" but the taste does degrade a lot. Can someone give me some input and maybe a schooling on what i a, looking for?

Thanks,
Louie

Are you asking how to tell if your cartomizers are high or low resistance? Well, the site you ordered them from should say if they are LR or SR (standard resistance). You need some type of ohmeter (sometimes a function available on your PV) to check yourself. LR are often stated as 2 ohms, but I usually read them at around 2.2 ohms. This shouldn't be too low for your PV, despite being called low resistance. If you're vaping at 4.7 volts, you probably have standard resistance cartos. If you want them to perform better, put them in a tank.

I got a bunch of boxes in my stocking on Xmas. So being that i didn't order them i don't know what they are. My other question is, what is considered a high resistance carto? If i cant run "LR equipment" in my tin mod then what am i to use? Thanks for the help btw.

Edit: Disregard the above. Simple Bing search and i got my answer. Boge HR 510 cartomizers! Duh.

Louie, I recommend trying SR (standard resistance) Boge cartos on 4.7v. They may last you longer. SR cartos are usually 2.6-3.0 Ω.

That said, it's a good idea to always check (and recheck) the resistance of your cartomizer with a multimeter; they don't always have the stated resistance, unfortunately.

There are HR cartos that run over 4Ω, designed for high voltage mods, but they are not suitable for 4.7v mods.

If the cartos taste bad after a couple of days, you can clean them if I'm not mistaken.

I too am looking for alternatives as I'm not satisfied with the taste from my Smoktechs, period.

You can, but they will never be the same again! So unless it's absolutely necessary, it's better not to clean and reuse them. A good cartomizer will process about 5-9 ml of eliquid, more or less, depending of what kind of ejuice you're using. They are disposable and should be treated as such.

What kind of Smoktech cartos are you using? Single coil? 510 connection? They are pretty good. You may also try 510 Boge cartos; they are harder to fill, as the filler inside is very tightly packed, but they perform well.

Yes, this has always been my problem with Cartos. I am a heavy vaper and I had to change them two or 3 times a day. They are pretty easy to clean, but you should let them dry before using them again, or you get a lot of popping from the residual water left in them even after spin drying. I prefer a clearomizer tank setup myself. I have Kanger T3, MT3 and Vivi nova - waiting on vapemail for the newest Kanger because it holds more juice :)
I would get a rebuildable, but don't want to fiddle with it. ;)

Yup!

I like the Kanger T3 a lot; not so much the vivi. I think I prefer the bottom changeable coil design. Just ordered the Evod--same thing but a bit smaller. :)

BTW, Kanger T3 and Evods are rebuildable. I'm just too lazy. :)

These are the different heads I've been comparing on my APV...

From left to right: 1: no name carts packaged as 510D SR (came with APV, rated 3.1 Ohms), 2: Smoktech Cartomizer for DCT U-DCT/510 (dual coil, tried all resistances, preferred 2.9 Ohms), 3: Vivi Nova (tried all resistances, preferred 2.8 Ohms), 4: Joyetech (JT) 510 atomiser (used for dripping only, 1.9 Ohms)

In terms of taste, I much prefer the JT 510 (dripping), then the Vivi Nova, then the Smoktech, then the no-name 510D

If it was convenient, I'd just use the JT 510, but it's not. I'd much prefer to use the Vivi Nova or the tank setup, but neither comes close in terms of taste. I'm not interested in throat hit, but I like lots of vapour. Again, dripping the JT 510 wins here.

NB: My comparisons have been done with fresh equipment, properly infused etc. etc. back to back with the same e-liquid, and adjusted to get the best taste from each setup.

For aesthetic and convenience reasons, I'd really like to get the tank setup performing well, but so far I haven't been able to do so. I just don't know if it's possible to match the taste I get from dripping, but using an alternative device.

Any advice?

Not that she can't speak for herself, but Ocelot is a close ECF friend of mine. She has a Provari, so I'm certain that she has checked the ohm rating on it.

Oh, I didn't know that. In that case, she got a bunch of duds... Happens all the time. Sad but true. :)

I have switched to fillerless for that reason. One never knows with cartos; but I had a good run with my Boges.

Like I told Bad, above, I have switched to fillerless cartos. I don't own a mod; I use eGos and eGo-C Twists, so I look for atomizers/cartomizers that are 510 or eGo-threaded. I'm very happy with Kanger T3s. I just ordered evod (same as T3 but smaller).

I'm sure that other mod users will tell you what will fit your mod. You can use an adapter, of course, but it's adding another step. Tanks are very popular with mod users, but you're still dealing with a cartomizer inside, so I didn't much care for that.
