So, I got some knockoffs from FT, and they do really well on an ego. However, I'm continuously having to pull the pins out a little to get them to make contact on my MVP. Is there a more permanent fix for this? Could I maybe slip another oring on the bottom of the contact to keep it pushed out, or maybe file down the bottom so it threads down a little further?

Theoretically, you can do either or both if you prefer. The issue lies not with the attys usually, but instead with innokin APVs. The 510 pins are some of the (consistently) deepest mounted there are at an average of 0.170" (4.30mm) for those that I've sampled.
Not just the MVP models, but 3.0 and SVD as well. I've not measured a VTR yet. You could even file down the MPV 510 collar, but you'd have to file in new air flow notches.
Yours is now the deepest measurement to date... and adjusts my average to 0.172".
Most Kanger clearos (with the exception of some but not all 510 connector ProTank glassomizers) have good continuity on Innokin APVs... it's the oddballs like your FT clones that, apparently, come up short. Your tiny o-ring fix on the atty coil tail retention pins might be a working solution.
