Need help with duel coil cartomizers.

Hey all, well I just picked up an ego Mega kit with the new duel coil cartomizers from madvapes. I have never used cartomizers before and I am having a bit of trouble with them. There is a very harsh burning taste so far and I can barley stand it. Is this normal for the first few hits? Do I need to break it in like an atomizer? I am a bit confused and am just looking for a bit of guidance. I am also using the new Melon juice from vaporbomb. Thanks.

Did you get the eGo dual coils?...Hummm not sure really except that it sounds like there not 100% wet. My wife uses the dual coil on her eGo and dosen't experience that. I use a lot of them and haven't had that problem ether. I would make sure they are 100% wet and keep them wet

Did You fill it enough? Fill it untill come out a few drops at the threadet end.. Then wait half an hour moving it a few times untill You start vaping

hey Cr, you have to make sure the white filler material is saturated. it needs to be wet to the point that if you blow through the mouthpiece some of the fluid will be expelled from the connector end. Then you are good to go for a while. Don't be afraid to soak it completely the first time. Then you are good to go for quite a while.
There are many different ways to fill these but if this is your first time, just keep dripping juice in slowly from the top and let it sit for just a few minutes. A little harder to see what's going on if you don't have the clear carts but you'll get the hang of it. I use a syringe. But you shouldn't be getting any burnt taste. If you feel that you may have damaged the first one, get another and try what I said. I'm sure others will chime in and help you

Thank you squirrel and everyone else, I believe since they hold 5ml I didn't put enough drops in the carto. I was so excited to try it that I didnt even try filling the whole thing. So I will fill this one up completely and let it sit and so where that gets me.

They all pretty much covered it . But , If in your quest to saturate the wick , you flood the carto , just blow through the mouthpiece , until , a few drops , come out . That sure clear your carto , for use . Hint , if it's gurgling , it's probably flooded.

Also if you've already burnt the one you initially tried from lack of juice then it more than likely will never get rid of the burnt taste. Once it sets in it's hard to get out. If it still taste burnt after filling it completely try another carto.

Oh well I guess theres a bit of a learning curve to these cartos. It seems like its completely soaked so I will give it a half hour or so and see from there

That's why the clear dual coils come in handy. They are so easy to see if there are dry spots in the carto and they are extremely easy to clean. And I never clean cartos, I usually just toss them.

Seems like everyone covered all the bases on this thread, however I didn't see anyone mention syringe fill method. This is how I fill my DC cartos every time. It very fast and you will always get a nice even fill every time. I use SmokTech DC cartos, which take 1.6ml right out of the wrapper. You can get a syringe and 20 gauge needle from many suppliers, I use madvapes.com. They are very inexpensive. Good luck!

Everyone should buy one clear dual coil carto just for the heck of it so you'll be able to see how they fill. It takes quite awhile for the juice to completely saturate the bottom of the carto.

You can get 3ml syringes at wal-mart for 25 cents. Most pharmacies sell them also but charge more. No sense paying for shipping unless you are ordering other things too.

There is also the condom method of filling cartos. Some people hate this method and others love it. I for one love it but will sometimes use a syringe. For more info on the condom method use the "Search ECF with Google" in the upper right hand corner of each page. Then you decide which method is best for you.

swedishfish, how do you clean your clear dual coil carto's ?

I can't speak for swedishfish but all I do is rinse them under hot running water until the filler is pure white then blow it out and let it dry overnite. Next morning I fill and vape.

When filling these, make sure to drip around the edges of the cartomizer and not through the center straw. I recommend putting a "cart condom" on the threaded end to capture any liquid that might drip through, then you can shake the cartridge to force the liquid to move to the bottom. Add a few more drops and repeat until the filler is so saturated that the top doesn't go dry after shaking it.

If you're speaking of the eGo Mega Dual Coil Carto, then there is no condom, ergo no condom fill capability. And with a 3 ml syringe, you'll have to refill the syringe to fill the carto. These cartos hold at least 4.5 ml.

If you have a cart condom from ANY cartomizer, you should be able to at least cover the bottom threading to catch any liquid that might drip out. I'm not suggesting that you fill it with the condom, but just use it to prevent a mess...which is what she said.

This is for clear dual coils only- I don't think it works for the others-

1. place the carto on the battery
2. gently shake the plastic outer shell back and forth and it slides off
3. unroll the batting from the center coils
4. rinse under hot water
5. place the center coil in a cup of hot water-move it around
6. blot the batting and center coils with paper towel.
7. air dry (takes about 5-10 minutes
8. roll the batting back around the center coils
9. slide the plastic back on

This works for me about 80% of the time. If I see that the coils look burnt in any way, I throw them away. But that's me. I don't know if it's necessary to do this.
