So I watched a thousand videos on DIY and read a thousand posts. I thought this would be easy.

I ordered my nic base my PG and VG, some flavorings and a pack of 3ml pipettes. I think I might be an idiot because I cant seem to use these pipettes correctly. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I just tried to make a 15ml batch and it looks only about 5ml in the bottle. I'm especially having problems with the VG. It's so thick that the pipette bulges in the middle and won't draw all the way to the top so I have no idea how much is actually in there. Even with the PG. If I fill the 3ml pipette and then squirt into the bottle it looks a lot less than 3ml.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Do your pipettes have measurements on them? mine are marked every .5ml. The other advice I have for the VG is to not dip the pipette in very far, it seems to work better for me if I keep it just under the surface. I also mix into 10ml graduated cylinders to double check measurements.

there are measurements. I think they are .5ml, but they are not labeled. Just hard to see lines every few inches. I think I need to order some syringes....maybe I'll have better luck with those. I just dont want to wait another week to start mixing.

I just figured out the problem. These must be 1ml's. I just took a cup of water and filled a 5ml bottle with 5 full pipettes. I knew I wasn't going crazy. I ordered 3ml from rtsvapes. They only carry 3ml. So, why are they 1ml?? Did anyone else order these from rtsvapes?

for syringes....I can pipe in and say, the 16gauge are not condusive for easy withdrawing....I had to order some 14gauge.

...and I read somewhere to make sure they are 'lockleur' (sp) so they don't come flying off the syringes....at least that's what I ordered

are those 14gauge good for VG?

I have never found the plastic pipettes to be very accurate. As mentioned, greater accuracy can be had with syringes. If I need to measure a small amount of flavoring, I'll use tuberculin syringes sans the needle. All of that measuring stuff is a pain to have to clean though and I'm really thinking about giving mixing by weight a try.

I e-mailed customer service at rtsvapes and explained that 5 full pipettes filled a 5ml bottle exactly so they must be 1ML pipettes. They e-mailed me back saying I am incorrect and insisted they are in fact 3ML pipettes. I mean seriously am I losing my mind? this is very simple math. I actually prefer 1ML and would have ordered them if they had it listed on their website so I'm not mad, but this is just so strange. I can't be the only one that has experienced this from rstvapes. I did notice one customer review that mentioned the actual capacity of these pipettes are only 1ML. But considering they only carry "3ml" how can only one other customer have come to the same conclusion as me?

I use these with a pipette pump as I feel they are more accurate. They come in different sizes to fit your needs. I mostly use the 2 and 5 ml types. One Sterile New Corning Costar 4011 Serological Stripette Pipette Disposable 1ml | eBay

This is from a different vendors site:

These pipettes are wonderful for accurate dispensing when creating your own liquids. This pipette is 3ml if you consider the bulb. If you only assume the stem of the pipette to hold liquid, it is approximately 1ml.

I actually had them filled all the way....about 3/4 of the bulb filled. That's all it would draw in.
