I am still a smoker but plan to give e-cigs a try again. I smoke American Spirit and if anyone is familiar with them they understand that they are a bit different than mass produced cigarettes. 1) They have a tight draw because they are packed firmer and 2) They taste more like cigar smoke than because the tobacco quality is a lot higher. So my problem with e-cigs was that the draw was loose; like inhaling through a straw. I have been researching on the net and found electroniccigaretteconsumerreviews.com, but it appears this website is essentially a marketing arm of Green Smoke. I am looking for a solid e-cig to start with and cannot seem to find unbiased reviews. Sorry for the rambling question. Thanks.

I would suggest trying Halo, whose Torque56 is a strong flavorful tobacco which reminds me of American Spirit. If you find it too strong for your tastes, their Prime15 is also very good. You can start with cigarette sized models, then move onto longer lasting bigger models if you want. They have been the one liquid line that I have enjoyed over time, with very consistent quality and service. Here's a link, and they have a veterans day sale going on at this time - HaloCigs | Premium E-Cigarettes and E-liquid

I find the Triton tank system to have a fairly tight draw, which I also prefer.

Welcome to ECF and good luck making the switch!

Hi Fireball, and welcome to ECF.

Not knowing your budget, it's hard to get real specific.... and while you may well succeed in making the switch, it can take a bit of trial and error to find the right "kit" for your needs.

Many of the newer toppers (tanks, clearos, etc.) have an air flow control that lets you adjust the draw, so look for devices of that sort. Aspire and Kanger, and others, have models with that feature and are generally good performers.

Power source, I recommend at least something with variable voltage so you can adjust the vape to your tastes. In "tube" format, something like a Vision Spinner, in "box" shape the MVP2 (although the MVP3 is due out "soon.") or Eleaf IStick might be a good choice.

Maybe head to a local B&M to get a hands on experience of the different form factors, and to try some different flavors. While prices will be higher than online, it can help to actually see and touch the hardware, whether or not you get it there.

I would suggest a Ego battery Variable Voltage 1300 mah 2 if you can afford it so while 1 is charging your can Vape with the other. Inexpensive tanks Protank 3 mini, Nautilus Mini[a bit more money] Areo Tank Mini. You can also use a bigger tank like the Protank 3 and a beauty ring for your ego battery. Apsire Natilus id $20 here
Aspire Nautilus only $20 For the Price here the Evod V-V3 is an advanced Ego Baterry that goes to 15watts at a fair price Evod V-V3 1300mah up to 6v/15w on sale $24 @Thrifty they have the Nautilus Mini and Areotank mini here. Aspire Nautilus Mini - $24.95 - WORLDofVAPE It may seem like a lot of money but I wish I would have spent this amount to start at the get go. I ended up spending more on Stick batteries and non VV Ego Batterries and then buying this good 2nd Generation products

I just want to say; well done for finding ECF.

There are entire websites dedicated to sham reviews for e-cigs. I found one only yesterday. It reviews about a dozen brands and then only recommends one (in every category) which we all know is total rubbish.

Until I started Vaping, I had no idea the internet was being used for these despicable practices.

It's becoming quite an issue in the UK. 'Whole' credible websites set up simply to sell one brand. I guess it's just so cheap now to build a sham website.

This right here is the site where you'll find reviews and information!!
And the first couple responses have some great recommendations. I'd pick one, try it, then come back and tell us what you like and don't like to get any needed suggestions for next steps.

Many people find their preference "evolves". They start with an Ego device because they want a small form factor. Then they want more power. Or they move to dripping for more intense flavor. Etc... Consider it an adventure of a sort - finding the right hardware and liquid may take a few tries.

But yeah - some ideas above are great: Halo makes some tasty juice, the MVP2 or iStick are feature-rich but inexpensive devices, etc...

I started with Green Smoke and the V2. Liked the V2 best. Green Smoke has very limited flavors and were more expensive. V2 has more special sales and a discount for military and Vet's.
I also got some CE4(starter kits) batteries and T3s (larger) tanks that hold more liquid. You can use the V2 e-juice in these also.
4 months Smoke Free.

My suggestion is not to look for something identical to what you have been smoking for years. I had alot of problems making the transition to vaping because I was trying to replace my cigarettes with something identical. Instead take the suggestions above about devices and try finding a flavor you love (banana, peanut butter, whatever) and replace one habit with another to make the transition.

Nicely put, Dickyjim, and something many of us have found to be true. Vapor and smoke are two different things, and finding a flavor that's "just like" any cig is near impossible. Many have started with the "cig-a-likes" and found them wanting. Short vape time before dead battery, not enough vapor, and so on. Then moved to ego styles and some sort of clearo on top. VV/VW is a huge improvement to those, and many of the features of "advanced" regulated mods can now be found in the non-replaceable battery models hitting the streets.
