Okay I previously posted it has been 2 months since my last tobacco cigarette , 40 years of smoking 1.5 packs(menthol) a day , lordy do the math ! I have been using some pretty disgusting e-cigs ( night lights ) with the screw on pre filled tips and rechargable battteries but they are so nasty and leave an oily filmin my mouth when I use them .. I have ordered some Apollo brand extreme to see if they are better .... I should have asked this before now but which unit or brand would you seasoned people suggest to avoid all the money spent on sub standard products .... as an older guy I don't really know all the tech stuff .... just want something that is clean and satisfying without all the oily film I've been experiencing if that is possible .. pocket sized .. thanks for any help !!

The Ego type is widely recommended to people just starting out and for good reason. They are quite reliable, affordable and the battery life is pretty good.

As for the oily taste. I remember that when I first got an e-cig too. I think it's just a matter of you've got really cheapo juice in your cartomizers when they are prefilled. Most of the more decent ejuice is sold seperately from an e juice vendor.

Keeping hydrated will help immensely. Keeps that nasty taste out of your mouth. Personally, I'm no big fan of the cig-alike models, though I do have a kit with 15 carts as an emergency/back up.

Don't let the term "Advanced" throw you. None of them are complicated. That said, there are some "mini" advanced vaporizers out there of varying cost.

The Ego twist and vision spinner(basically the same thing) are both good. They have a dial on the bottom so you can turn the power to the coil in your cartomizer or whatever juice delivery device you are using up or down to make more or less vaper, throat hit and flavor. If you get the 650 mah size it will be a little bigger than a sharpie marker.

I just switched to vaping 3 days ago. After some research I decided on the Ego-C. Very satisfied and can care less about an analog cig. Good luck and enjoy!!

Congrats on switching RyDog have you noticed your breathing easier after just a few short days ? I know I did , the mrs. told me the snoring has stopped also .

It appears that this is a KR808. This refers to the battery connection. Most pv's are either a 510 or KR808. This isn't a huge issue because they sell adapters so you can use either.

See how you like it when you get it. If you do like it, purchase some empty KR808 cartomizers (that's what holds the liquid) and some liquid and fill them yourself. It tastes better and you save money.

**Double check with them first to see if it's a KR808 or 510. They're a registered supplier here and you can ask on their website or in their forum. Appears they offer a 30 day money back guarantee and one year warranty.

Hope you like it! BTW, if you like vaping, there are tons of options. Most people don't have just one pv.

First off, congrads on kicking the habit and welcome to the forum. 3yrs ago when I first began vaping I to had the nasty film issue and it was just nasty cheap China liquid. Now what I recommend is getting a 510 or 808d1 kit from a reputable vendor such as Smokeless Image, Halo, VaporsSmith, NextSmoke, just to name a few. Also get some prefilled cartomizers and familiarize yourself with the vaping experience. Then after you learn the basic maybe order your liquid and fill your own carts, you can buy blanks pretty reasonable. As you move along you can try the ego, kdo, ect; and the tanks and such. To keep from getting frustarted just try the kits they are pretty simple and easy to use. Hope this helps.

Thanks!! Breathing is a little easier. Big difference is my sense of taste and smell. As for snoring, my girlfriend doesn't live with me but stays over on the weekends. She puts me on the couch when she sleeps here because she says my snoring keeps her up so I'm really excited to see if I stopped. Didn't even think about that, thanks Marine!!

"Don't let the term "Advanced" throw you. None of them are complicated. That said, there are some "mini" advanced vaporizers out there of varying cost. "

...... can you recommend some vaporizers ?

...... place to buy quality juice ?

Smoktek bolt is a solid, dead-simple vaporizer. 1 inch in diameter, less than 4 inches long, the battery will last ya a while before you have to refill. Get some 510 cartridges and fill 'em up yourself. Just charge the battery on the charger till the light turns green, pop it in your Bolt, screw on a cartridge and you're ready to go. No gauges, no read-outs, just a button to press when you take a vape. It's all mechanical which means it should survive a drop on the floor easier than some of the fancier units. Less than $40 for the bolt, $15 or so for a pair of batteries, about $10 for a charger. A five-pack of cartridges will run you less than 5 bucks. I'd get a drip tip too, 7-3 bucks.

If you look around, you can find a kit that will get you hooked up with a bolt, 1-2 batteries (you want at least two), a charger, some cartridges and maybe a tip.

As far as liquids go, Mt Baker's Vapor is one of my first choices. Right now they have 10 milliliter bottles for 5 bucks each. Buy a few that sound good and try a few. Find one or two that you like and buy the bigger bottles.

All that, I have personal experience with, so I can tell you it's a good start. Others will have their opinions too, which is great. There's no one right way.

You will find here that asking for starter advice is a huge deal as much like hand grenades, everyone has them.

You asked for specific advise, so I'll throw in my 2 cents.

Ego Twist @ 650 mAh. This is the battery. Sold everywhere, work very well, cost ~ $23.00 (recommend 2. as while one charges, another is ready) These will go most all day for moderate vaping.

Charger fro above. Cost about $3-$4

Vivi Nova - This is a clearomizer, or atomizer, or a few other things they call these. Essentially these hold the juice (3.5 ml) which is enough easily for a day of vaping. Cost about $12.50 or so and come with a total of three heads. I have only had one head go bad in three weeks. I recommend buying a few 3-4 of these as you can clean a set, while using the others. These are essentially leak free, very easy to clean, fit the EGO's fine.

I'm a big fan of Heathers Heavenly Vapes. Great stuff. They offer small 4 x 6 ml sample packs. You simply pour these directly into the Novas.

Good luck

if you can afford it .. *dons flame suit* .. get a provari ..if not ..get another mod that you can replace the batteries in .. sealed units like the ego style will eventually die .. it might be a more expensive initial investment but it should be cheaper in the end ..and of course higher quality

other than that.. pick a vaporizing device you like (atomizer, cartomizer, clearomizer, cartomizer tank..etc) ..don't buy in bulk until you find what best suits you

for juice.. buy sample packs to find flavors you like ..then buy in bulk (usually get a discount for buying in bulk) ..

Hi, marine. Welcome to ECF, and huge congrats on the big switch:toast:! If you can afford it, check out the bottom-feeding Reos mods (great for lazy folks, like me)Reos Mods. Also the Vamo is a great alternative for those of us who can't justify the expense of a provari. Get a small array of clearos (i.e. kanger T2 and T3)/cartos(my fave=mini 1.7 ohm single-coil) to find your favorite. Best of luck to you:)!

Hi Marine. Big congrats on 2 months without the stinky cigs!! Like many of the responses so far I would also recommend an ego twist/vision spinner battery(they are basically the same thing) and a Kanger T3 and/or vivi nova (these are used to hold your juice).
Vapingreek has good tutorial video on Youtube demonstrating a basic ego kit setup: Diary of a VapinGreek #7 "A great way to get started" - YouTube
As for juices, give Mt. Baker Vapor a try. Affordable and good quality juices. Order a small size of a few flavors you think you'd like.
Remember, finding the right vaping equipment can take some trial and error, BUT it's still a whole heck of a lot cheaper than cigarettes!
