I would not really change a thing. "mistakes" were not mistakes at all but rather experience that pointed me in the right direction. No matter how much research you do - you dont actually know anything until you try out your idea. For every post on how great something is - there actually are posts with the opposite opinion. If you miss those contrary posts its simply because you are not looking for them.

Now lets say you heed the advice of other users and right off the bat, for your first purchase, you jump in with both feet and get a provari or other tube mod. they are "the best" right? Maybe not if you feel foolish using it in public. Or that dang old baton just wont fit in your pocket.
Then you think "ah ok, i might need something different for around town" and so you are off to purchase some other gizmo.

Or maybe you decided to get a bottom feeder box mod like the reo grand. Its small enough for your pocket...its modestly priced (comparitively) and is highly recommended. yeah - it is good and all that. No one complains that it does not produce good hits. but you cant dangle it from your lips, looks like you are sipping from a high tech juice box and raises eye brows at the bus stop....

the point is - no matter what you buy you will discover some need or want or have some experience that suggests you did not buy the "right thing" and make you second guess your original logic.

the real truth is - you will have new ideas and experience that lead you down a different path than the one you started on. Its no big deal. Its just life and there is no way to ever get it "right" the first time around. No matter how "right" your choice was at the time of purchase - you WILL simply come to know your own needs and wants better than you did before.

I so totally agree,,,,,

I don't regret my minis,,,,,,,at the TIME they were perfect,,,,,

I'm now on the Ego type batts, and I'm happy,,,,,,,,,,,who knows a year from now??

I don;t even regret my stupid awful Njoy I bought at WM,,,,it kept me off the stinkies for a week while my better set up got here,,,,,,,,that was worth 20 bucks,,,,,

I do DIY now, and although I wish I'd found it a bit sooner,,,,,,buying juices is still cheaper than cigarettes, and I was learning so many other things, I didn't want to add DIY into the mix until I was ready,,,,,,,,,I'm ready now, and happy to be doing it,,,,,

I've used a provari (at a vape store) and I DID NOT LIKE IT,,,,,,,,yep, you heard me,,,,,hated the thing,,,,,,,just too big. But who knows in a year or two,,,,

I probably would have slowed down buying stuff until I was sure what worked for me....that includes equipment and juice. Hitting all the Labor Days sales after just 2-3 weeks of vaping was a little soon to be making informed decisions. But I'm so much wiser now...not so much...I'm sure the thanksgiving sales will get me again.

I'm vaping for around 8 months now, so I guess I still have a lot to learn. As of now, I would have skip all those smaller batteries and the chargers case that come with them. I tried 3 different seller and always started with a starter kit, so I now have 3 charger cases that I don't use anymore as I switched to bigger passthrough batteries.

I would also have consider DIY juice before I switched to clearomizers, as they burn the juice so fast... I'm now trying to find a good canadian supplier for the nic base before I ruine myself on pre-made juice...!

After the mini cigs I went with an EMDCC , it didn't last long and I was rapidly onto the provari and while I have picked up a few more devices here and there, its still, what I use all day/everyday.if it fits your budget, you are very likely to be happy with it. I know there are plenty of people also who are perfectly happy with other devices (SB kicked, Vmax, zmax etc). So you do have options and almost all of them are less expensive. You certainly don't have to have a provari, but its hard to argue that it's not a high quality, dependable piece of kit:)

When I started vaping the two systems that I heavily recommend now, had problems. The E-Power and and Provari had amp limiters that would not allow vaping in the 13watt range.

I now tell people, If you are starting out on a tight budget, get the E-Power. It's a 'ready to go out of the box' mod for under $60. Take the money you are saving from not smoking, and save for a Provari.

If you budget is a bit more open, get the Provari first, and get lavatube later so you have a backup device.

Cartos, cartos, cartos. Always keep cartos on hand. Sure, try out the other stuff. Always keep a pack of 'I know this will never fail me" on hand.

I'd have 3 provari's with the money I've spent on crap hardware.
