Need some polishing help.

Does anyone know if you can take a brushed stainless steel mod and get a polished look? If there is a way, how does one go about doing that?

Well, one way to is to use fine grit sand paper to take it down some, then a even finer grit, and so on and so on until you end with wet sanding with extremely fine grit sand paper then use polishing cloths...

However, I've never taken it to perfectly smooth. And if you think that sounds like a lot of work... you'd be correct.

Personally, I'd be satisfied with the brushed look or I'd buy a polished mod.

I guess the problem I'm running into is I am having a hard time finding someone thats willing to sell a penelope. Although there is the euforia, it has more of a brushed look to it and I prefer the polished look of the penelope. Thats the whole reason for this thread because it seems I'm going to have to settle for a euforia.

Yes you can polish darn near any metal. I polish firearms, motorcycle frames, coins, soda cans, jewelry, you name it. if its brushed or textured you will need to sand out with some fine grit sandpaper whatever you start with remember you HAVE to get all the previous grit scratches out before you move to the next finer grit. Work your way up to like 2k and polish it with some good aluminum (or whatever metal) polish. You can do it by hand with a microfiber, or by machine (dremel, or bench grinder with polishing wheels attatched) I polished a glock slide (without sanding) by hand in about 8 hours total. Thats including taking the factory coating off! IT CAN BE DONE!

This is how I got my mod looking like it just.came off the lathe. You can actually skip the "red polishing compound" and just get some Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish (Walmart in the Auto Detailing section)
That stuff is seriously THE BEST! I can't stress enough to go slow and keep your pressure very light and even once you get to the fiber grade sandpaper. It might take a couple passes, or you might get it right on the first time. Just trust me, you don't need any special tools to polish your mod. It's actually easiest to muck up a mod by using power tools. Stick to hand method unless you have the skills to do so.

Watch "Todd's Reviews" on YouTube. He did a whole video on polishing his mods. He may have even done two of them.

If you don't think you can pull it off yourself look up one of your local chrome plate shops most of them polish stuff all day or send it out in witch case they would be able to tell you where to go.Anybody that does polishing could pull that off real quick.

I would recommend using a bench grinder equipped with a cloth polishing wheel. I bought a cheap one at Harbor

Freight for $28.99 picked up some polishing compound for $1.99 as well. Coat the wheel with the compound and

start buffing. In a matter of minutes you can get a mirror finish. I grinded off the anodized finish of my Amp Tank

and then polished it. Only Amp Tank owners would appreciate this =)
