Need switch and reg tip

I'm getting everything together for my first mod, and I've decided to build a very basic very simple 5v mod using an altoids tin. I'm almost all set to start ordering materials, but I have a couple questions

I'd like to put a master on/off switch of some sort inside the actual tin. I'm having trouble finding a switch that would work for this, though. With the switches I've seen the leads are on one end and the button on the other, so I can't think of a way to mount it inside the tin.

Also, for the regulator, any recommendations on which to choose if I went with madvapes? As a starter mod, this will be trial and error, but I could use a good starting point for what amp to look for

Thanks!!!

Ok, maybe I should put in more info? I plan to use a 2xAA box without switch (unless the switch could be easily moved and easily mounted? I definitely want it inside the box though to remove the chance of accidentally turning it on) 2x14500 batts. No led's for this one. Plan to ground using wire, not the box itself. 510 pre-wired connector because my soldering skills are nil right now. Plus the master on/off I mentioned, a round tactile momentary switch, and some kind of regulator.

If you can tolerate a non-switching VV mod it is very easy using MV parts.
For mstr off switch I rotate carto 1 turn.

I like that idea!!! My one concern though is that I plan to build this first one before I budget in a voltimeter, so would it still be very easy if I were to add a voltage display onto that setup? There would be ample room for it I assume, but I've never seen so much as a youtube vid on adding one, so I have zippo idea how complicated that would be.

Perhaps it's time to do a forum search. Thanks for the idea! Gives me more to consider

Voltmeter can be added to non-switching reg mod if desired.
I use mine w/o voltmeter; kinda like driving car w/o speedometer, not hard to do.
Sometimes I check volts w/ multimeter for kicks; I like 4.2v.

Voltmeter is more difficult on switching regulators.

What kind of switch did you want for it? Slide? Rocker? Push button? You mentioned you're doing a regulated as opposed to VV mod, are you planning on using a small board in there? Have you thought of mounting the master switch to the board?

Oops, did you edit, or did I just totally miss the last 2/3 of your post the first time? My bad.

Anyway, I hadn't planned on using a board, but now that you mention it, that would be a great spot to mount the switch! Thanks!

Sometimes it's the simplest things us newbies need

I edited it like 30 sec after the original posting, we're just too fast for each other. Yeah mounting it to the board would be quick and easy.

Those little meters like the ones MV sells work on every type of regulator I've tried them on, linear and switching.
