Need tips to improve new Vapor King kit

My daughter and I are both new vapors, about 1 month along. We gave up a 2 pad habit when we found e-cigs. After reading a bunch of reviews, she decided to get a Vapor King kit from Vapor4Life. I was looking for a new replacement for the simple e-cigs we found at our local store and when the V4L site had a big discount, I went ahead and ordered mine there also, at 1/2 price.

The problem is my daughter got hers the other day and is having problems getting enough vapor or throat hit. There are 2 little holes in the sides of the battery that may contribute to that. She got 4 mg. nic, which may have something to do with it. And when she called the company, they suggested pulling up the inside of the cart and pulling down the inside of the battery so they would fit together better. They also said some people plug up the holes with the tips of toothpicks! The pulling and taping up the holes helped a little but it's still not as good as the cheapies we got locally. She added some 18 mg. nic and that helped quite a bit, but it STILL is not as good as our first experience.

Does anyone have any additional tips on how to make the Vapor King or any e-cig work better? My order is on the way and I am not looking forward to having to make all these little adjustments just to make it work like you would expect it to out of the package. Or am I expecting too much? According to my daughter, the biggest improvement came from using a higher nic juice. That defeats the purpose of someone who is trying to lower their nic use, like me.

Yup higher nic will give you more throat hit. V4L sells their wowcarts which are a lower ohm rating and intended for a warmer hit. This would help you as well. Unless you already have them. Beyond that, there isn't much you can do. Maybe try some different cartos from different vendors. But there is only so much you'll get out of a 3.7v device. When you want more power you've got to up the voltage and/or lower the resistence.

I would encourage her to use the higher nic juice for now, remember that while nicotine is addictive (as is coffee), it is not the seriously dangerous part of smoking. It's the tar and the 4000+ chemicals, many of which cause cancer. Nicotine does not cause cancer or emphysema or COPD.

LATER, after the cigs are WAY WAY in the rear-view mirror and she has found her vaping "happy place" with the equipment she likes and juices she likes, she can start reducing her nicotine if she wants to get rid of or reduce her nicotine addiction.

For me, I started out on 18 mg to break away from the cigs (I smoked ultra lights), but soon found I couldn't vape it for long without getting a headache, so I started vaping 0-12 mgs when I am vaping a long time. It happened very naturally.

Don't push the nic issue...the bigger issue is getting totally, and I mean TOTALLY, free from any desire for a cigarette first.

Thank you Tinajfreeman. That makes sense. I was able to quit cigs totally when I started vaping (chain vaping, but still no analogs!). That surprised me since I was such a slave to them for years. I still get a craving every once in a while but nothing like when I tried quitting cold turkey a year ago, which was a real horror story. So now I'm at the place of searching for that "happy vaping place". There are so many choices and options, it's hard for a newbie. Hard for me anyway, to make a decision of where to go next. But one thing for sure, I won't give up on finding my perfect fit. And you're right in that I need to concentrate on that and work on lowering the nic at a later time. I'm just hoping I can make this new kit I ordered satisfying and am concerned since my daughter is having problems with hers. We'll see. It should arrive in a few days.

Hi, I'm the daughter. I think my mom misunderstood a few things. I knew the throat hit would be less with less nicotine and it is actually okay. I was chain vaping at 18mg and would get dizzy/light headed so thought it would be good to get some lower nic juice as well. I did get some WOW cartridges with my kit. The main problem that I am having is the airy draw with these Vapor King XLs and there is not very much vapor. I have adjusted the posts on both the battery and the cart and that did seem to help some with the vapor. I also used some tape to cover the holes in the battery which provided a tighter draw. I got all these suggestions from this site (love all the info here!).

We started out on Mistics from Walmart and had good experience with those, although only 2 out of 5 batteries are still working after only a month. I love the look and feel of the Vapor King XL, I just would like a tighter draw and some more vapor (like with the mistic).

Ok, so leaving out throat hit, the big issues are the draw and the vapor? What would fix that? Different juices or batteries or carts?

If you want a harder draw (like sucking a triple thick milkshake through a thin straw) then you'll need high resistence cartos (higher ohms). Like the cool cartos V4L sells or maybe something higher from somewhere else. As for not getting a lot of vapor, that could be the carto itself that is just not working well or the fact that the liquid is high in PG.

There are several things that affect performace when it comes to e-cigs.
1. Voltage
2. Resistence (ohm rating of the atomizer or cartomizer)
3. Style of atomizer (atty, carto, dual coil carto, dewicked atty, etc.)
4. Juice PG/VG ratio, nictotine level, color

In order to find the right vape you usually have to experiment with different combinations of these. Which can cost a bit of money, but once you find what you like it can be cheaper than smoking.

Since you can't control your voltage on the V4L stuff, you can only experiement with 2-4. So I would recommend picking up a package of coolcarts, maybe a 901 atomizer with drip tip for it from another vendor and juices with different PG/VG ratios.

PG will give you more of a throat hit and more flavor, VG will give you more vapor. I'm guessing here but I think most of the V4L liquid is 100% PG. A lot of people like a blend something like 70/30 or 60/40 PG/VG. As you get the best of both worlds. Some people are allergic to PG so they go 100% VG.

You can buy blank cool cartos and wow cartos from V4L and then find some quality American made liquid elesewhere.

It's hard for me to say because I haven't used V4L stuff in a couple years. So I don't know how the new models perform. Most people typically want a lighter draw and more vapor/throat hit. Not something that is harder to draw on. But everyone has their own preferences and the great things about e-cigs in general is that you have so many choices.

Have either of you asked any of these questions in the Vapor4Life forum below?

Thank you Roxics, that was very informative. I'm not wanting a super tight draw, but these are very very airy and you can hear it big time when using it. Covering the holes helped with that though. I didn't know the juice from there was 100% PG that could be where the vapor i was getting is missing. Thank you again, I'll check out the cool carts or some other ones somewhere else.

I use V4L and some of the newer auto Vapor King Titans have a VERY airy draw. The king diamonds do not. Call the store and see if they will switch them out for you. The people there are really helpful. Also go to the top of this forum and click on forum suppliers. Find V4L and click on the ECF forum link. There are some threads that deal with the airy draw issue and some things you can do to counteract it. (Taping a hole is one) Good luck and happy vaping!!!!
