Well this thread was inspired by Drunkenbatman from another thread about Aspire's news release on their coils. First off, i'm an admitted chain vapor....i'm a newbie still to vaping and giving up analogs is the hardest thing i've ever had to do....well, other than give birth...wait, nope...that was easy compared to quitting cigs. Anywayyyyys, i need to know what ya'll would recommend as far as a good tank with economic replacement coils?

I am vaping on a Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 and i have only had my Aspire Nautilus Mini for about a week now and i LOVE it! However, the coils are expensive to replace and i just learned it's dangerous to dry burn them for reuse. My ADV is Uncle Junk's Jon Wayne and it's expensive, but it's the only one i've found that actually keeps me off the analogs so far. It's 24mg 50/50 PG/VG....so maybe that will help you when replying and suggesting what kind of tank i should purchase next.

One last thing, i love the tanks that give me the ability to control the airflow...so that would need to be a must and i also love the see through tanks...so if there's something out there that would work for me as far as the replacement coils being a decent price, please let me know....because i really don't want to take out a Vape Loan and i'm not quite ready for building coils just yet....i'm not a very patient lady right now since i've quit smoking! :p

Thanks in advance and just want to shout out a big THANK YOU to all of you that have helped me thus far in my vape experience....i mean that from the bottom of my heart!! :)

If you are tired of buring through coils, you can upgrade to the new DNA 40 boxes. The DNA 40's have temperture control that will make your coils never burn. You can dry burn them all day and they will never burn. You can also get new tempature control head for Aspire tanks. Take a look at vaporshark.com.

I take it that a DNA is a mod? So i would have to get a new mod too or am i confused? I will do a google, but i really cannot afford to invest in a new mod right now, especially after purchasing the iTaste and the Nautilus mini....but i'll check it out and thank you....going through coils this fast will add up quickly!

I would suggest IBTanked carto tanks, but you said controlling airflow is a must... Cartos are cheap, make for a great saturated flavorful vape and very efficient...

Thank you Stevegmu....that's something to think about too. I still am cringing from having to give up on the nautilus mini though....it's like tossing 30 bucks i spent down the drain and i love the way it delivers my ejuice,etc.....dagnabit, Aspire needs to get their act together! ha

There's no reason not to have more than 1 topper... IbTanked carto tanks are also very popular with many of us who use ProVari...

How often are you going through your coils?? I don't know if your juice is bad for gunking them up, but I get at least two weeks and up to a month one time on my naughty coils. I get em for 11 or 12 dollars for 5 of them. My vape budget is almost non existent but it's not bad for me. I did recently learn that building is not as hard as I thought, and will be going that route once I get my reo. Wouldn't want to recoil a naughty coil though. I was lucky a month or so ago and got 4 boxes of naughty coils at 40% off at MFS. But even at full price, it's not bad. Unless you're going through them much quicker due to your juice.

btw congrats on switching!!!

Honestly, is buying coils and your eliquid more expensive than smoking? I've found over years of vaping that it's typically about half the cost of smoking or less. Make sure you're looking around for the best deals on your coils and juice. Many stores have codes where you can get 5% to 15% off normal prices.

Vaping does cost money, but it should be cheaper than smoking.

Ahem, DNA 40 technology will not keep coils from accumulating gunk and needing cleaning. The chip prevents overheating and dry hits, but the coils and wick get dirty no matter what.

Kanger tanks are reasonably priced and coils are easy to disassemble, dry burn, rewick, rebuild. My coils last for weeks without rebuilding. They are very user-friendly and economical.

Eleaf's GS Air tank is new but is getting good reviews. No word yet on how easy the coils are to clean and how long they last--they are similar to Joyetech's CS coils, but better.

Aspire will eventually switch to all organic cotton in their BVC coils. When and if they do, you'll be able to use them in your mini Naughty!

Good luck!

I second the Kanger tanks. Once you get the hang of it, they're fairly easy and very economical to rebuild. I just did a dozen over the weekend. Just got 100' of 30 ga kanthal for 3.80. That's 1,200 inches, @ 4-5" per coil which comes out to @ a penny and a half per coil and enough for hundreds of coils. I got 80 organic cotton balls for 3.50 and can easily get 25-30 wicks from each which comes to a tiny fraction of a penny for each wick. You just need to get the BDC heads with the silicone caps and you're set for some time if/when you're ready to move on. Very economical. 30 ga/7 wraps will get you to 1.8 ohms.

And if you don't want to rebuild, you can still enjoy them as they are. If you have problems...:D

I've been using Kanger atties for two years and never had a problem. They just work, if you know how to use them correctly. A few tips:

Kanger Troubleshooting 101:

If your clearo is flooding, the connections are not tight enough--or too tight. Keep reading.

If you're using clearos and getting a burnt taste it means that not enough juice is getting to the coil and you're basically vaping dry, hot air or inhaling smoke from the gunk that's burning off of your coil. Not a good thing. Another case of bad taste maybe the tank itself--some arrive covered with some kind of nasty grease; wash them with soap and water (just the tanks--soak the coils in PGA or vodka).

There are a few things you need to remember when using a T3 or an eVod or a ProTank--in addition to keeping your coils clean and free of gunk that accumulates on them.

1) Make sure that the atomizer coil is screwed into the base tightly--every time you refill; they often come not fully tightened from the manufacturer, or may have gotten loose through repeated refills.

2) Look at all the inner seals and gaskets to make sure they haven't become dislodged.

3) Make sure that you screw the tank into its base tightly. If it's not tight, it will leak.

4) When you screw your clearomizer into your battery, do not overtighten--screw it in only until it makes contact--no farther, or you may push the center post in too deep and cause all kinds of problems, including leaking. When the draw becomes tight or the taste and vapor production begin to diminish, replace the coil. This will happen sooner (even as soon as one day of heavy use) if you're using dark, viscous, or very sweet juices. The old coil can be cleaned and dry burned.

5) Make sure you're not getting any juice in the center tube when you're filling--this will cause your eVod to leak like a sieve. If some juice gets into the tube, close the top cap, place a tissue under your tank and blow gently through the clearomizer to get rid of any excess eliquid. Also, extra condensation inside the tank may, on some occasions, drip back into the center tube. Wipe your mouthpiece dry with a q-tip or a tissue when you refill (or more often when/if needed).

6) Take an occasional "primer puff" (a slow draw without activating the battery) when you vape. It helps move the juice into the coil chamber and removes any air bubbles that sometimes form in the tank and may cause gurgling or impede proper wicking.

7) New clearomizers (Aerotanks etc.) come with a clever airflow adjustment base--make sure you adjust the settings to your liking.

8) Take slow long draws rather than sharp and quick ones like we used to do while smoking cigarettes. Do not over vape, chain vape, power vape. Let the juice travel to the coil between drags.

9) Do not remove any flavor wicks if you're experiencing any leaking or flooding. Those wicks are there for a reason. If you feel that you have to remove a wick because your eliquid is particularly thick, do it carefully--one strand at a time. If your liquid is super thin, you can thicken it with a bit of VG (USP--pharma grade) or you can add another strand of cotton to your flavor wick. Don't add too much or you'll choke your atomizer and get a dry hit.

and last but not least:

10) Keep the coils and wicks clean (search ECF or YouTube for detailed coil cleaning instructions). Discard when when flavor and vapor start to diminish. Those coils are disposable.

Also, make sure you're vaping at correct wattages; Kanger recommends 5.5-7.5 watts for single coils. Dual coils require a bit more wattage than single coils. They also benefit from increased airflow.

Here's the cheapest place I have found for the coils you currently use:

http://www.evape.us/nautilus-bvc-replacement-coil/

Uncle Junk's is 30PG/70VG. Higher levels of VG will clog up your coils faster than PG will. No much you can do about that. I would maybe look for an RY4 which would be similar in taste. It would likely be cheaper, and maybe have a bit more PG in it.

thanks to everyone who gave their input on this. I'm heading out to my local vape shop to pick up my ADV and another coil for my mini. However, i am going to purchase my coils for my mini on the site Serenity posted...i appreciate that. Also going to invest in a Kanger tank soon, so thanks Katya for your informative post :) I'm sure way down the road i'll get into rebuilding, but as for now....i want economic and quality...which is almost impossible to find hand in hand, but looks like i'm gonna keep my mini and just add Kanger to my list for quality tanks! :)

I hope you do find something that works, but I'd keep your eye on the rebuildable tank atomizer (RTA) the eLeaf Lemo. It's not hard rebuilding, but it does take an initial investment of money and time. Now that I've got it going, I haven't spent a dime in months! Just get the research started, and you'll be happier in the long run.

OK, not meant to derail or convince you to do something different, but to tell you that you certainly can do it if you get the urge, and that there's no time like "as soon as you want" :D

Budget clearo? I vote for Kanger Protank 2 with airflow adapter. The single coils are cheap and don't go through eliquid as fast while still producing good vapor. You can also find tons of videos on how to rebuild them if you want to go that route. I'm not that impressed with dual coils for the amount of liquid they use. I guess I'm just not a power vaper.

Hey KY! Kind of an unfortunately nickname, but you picked it. Similar to what was posted, you basically have a few fixed expenses:

[1.] Eliquid

The profit margins in eliquid are pretty huge, and as mentioned going DIY is really how to save the cash. Keep the flavors simple, and for a small investment upfront you'll have more eliquid than you'll know what to do with. If you're really picky and struggling it can be harder to perfect the recipes, especially for good tobaccos -- but once you're cose you can use your DIY most times and savor the special stuff.

There are a lot of really cheap eliquids out there, you seem to like high-VG but it might be worth looking at something like this:

RY4 (24mg 80/20)
$3.58 Hangsen E-liquid for Electronic Cigarettes (30ml) - Ruyan 4 flavor / 24mg/ml nicotine at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

RY4 (18mg 50/50)
$3.71 Hangsen E-liquid for Electronic Cigarettes (30ml) - Ruyan 4 flavor / 18mg/ml nicotine at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Those are caramel/vanilla/tobaccos, and at $3.70 for 30ml shipped to your door about the best you'll do and they're considered to be decent. Be aware it'll take a bit to make it through customs. They have a few others you might enjoy from the drop-down, but tobaccos can always be hit or miss so google for reviews.

If you wanted to start small, there are other tricks, like ordering 24mg of a mtbaker flavor you like with extra flavor shots in 100% PG, then diluting with VG (or the reverse). It's kind of like baking a cake -- once you do it once you realize it isn't magic and not a huge deal.

[1.] Hardware

As mentioned uncle junks is a high-VG eliquid, and the tanks you're using aren't going to be the best with it. Even if it works, what happens is VG is very thick, so once the wicking starts to clog up from used flavorings it's harder for the VG to keep getting in. The best tanks for handling those right now are the Subtank, Delta II and Atlantis -- but as you're aware the BVC coils have issues, and unless your batter is an MVP 20w the subtank won't run well.

The nautilus is a pretty expensive tank to run, the coils are very expensive compared to subtank/kanger coils, and depending on the flavorings used nothing will stop them from going bad in a few days. If youur MVP is the 20w version, I'd say to skip all of this and invest in a subtank mini or nano: the components are good, it handles VG well, the coils are cheaper, the flavor is better, and it's a warm vape. Make sure it's the updated version with an insulated airflow so it doesn't get hot and you'll be happy.

Otherwise, when it comes to Kanger, I think the best setup is a Protank 2 or Protank 2 mini along with an aerobase. They're single coil, you can remove the flavor wicks to help with thicker eliquids, the coils are cheap and plentiful, and they're about the easiest rebuild out there.

myfreedomsmokes has free shipping right now on orders over $20 with the code: FEBSHIP

https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/tanks-atomizers/clearomizers/bcc.html

https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/kangertech-air-flow-controller-w-510-thread.html

So for about $25 you could have a PT2, aero base and a 5-pack of coils -- and the tank comes with two. You can get those coils elsewhere for $1 apiece, or less through clonecores for non-authentics. When you want to rebuild the coils, it's harder to get easier than the single-coil PTs, and if you decide to move up to an RTA you'll already have most of the knowledge you'll need for building it. I believe some of MFSs eliquids are hangsen-esque, so they might let you know if they're for you before ordering 30ml from fasttech.

To get away from the expense of replacing coil heads you need a rebuildable.
You can start out with a simple rda; cheap.
Use 32 or 30 gauge kanthal and cotton for wick and together with your mvp2 you won't have to keep buying coils.
Or you can get the new subtank, but that's still pretty new and I'd say they're still working out the bugs- for example the rba head on the minisubtank people are saying is better than the one that comes with the subtank, plus there was an insulator issue with the first release of the subtanks.

There's a bigdripper v2 that comes with a glass tank.
