I've been running my hcigar nemmy with a small section of binder clip handle instead of the grain-of-rice pin in the switch since I lost the original pin. Installed a three magnet setup since then and it works well (not especially better than the spring, but better. The adjustment of the bottom pin throw, more than anything else, is where it's at in terms of getting a smooth action with the right amount of tension ... for me). Anyway, got a proper replacement pin from vapor Rev. cool right?

Here's my issue. The internal diameter of the magnets -- I think I got them from vapor rev also, not sure -- doesn't allow the slightly larger diameter of the "proper" pin to fit. Just, barely too little room for the pin to slide through under the magnet even when seated right in the groove.

So. Not really into the idea of ordering new magnets, and feel like I want to use the proper pin rather than my improvised one. Would yall folks out there recommend either of these ideas:

1. dremmel out a small notch in the offending magnet in order to accommodate the pin? Would this compromise the action needed for the pin to perform its important action? I can't actually visualize the mechanics and movement going on inside.

2. dremmel out the existing groove for the pin on the switch housing. Basically enlarge it a bit to accommodate the larger diameter pin. Same question, would that interfere with proper operation?

Sure, I can start measuring the magnets I have, try to find ones with an ID of maybe one mil larger, can even go to the hardware store where they have a selection. But... maybe one of my ideas would work? Appreciate any feedback. g$

Fasttech has really cheap nemi magnets. https://www.fasttech.com/p/1558901

Don't see the point off modding the mod if you can get the right hardware for next to nothing.

Thanks, I can see the logic there. Now that I think of it, my magnets came with the damn mod. So it's the (vaporrev) pin that's oversized. Now I have to wonder if the fasttech magnets would have the same problem. der....

Those pins are dirt cheap if you have the specs of the original pin, maybe someone here that has the hcigar nemi can post the specs. I wouldn't modify the the mod.

I would try these first https://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10005773/1558900 not even a buck its worth a try.

Flat the edge of the pin. The pin is the issue, so address the issue directly.

If you fix the pin itself everything will just work. If you slot the magnet inside edge there will still be some amount of contact as things move when the button is depressed. During which, you may get more of the crunchy feel you got the magnets to eliminate.

Slotting the magnets will not allow them to rotate freely if they do under normal operation and may create another unwanted contact point with collateral crunchiness.

Deal with the pin. You may just find a similar sized drill bit (to the original pin) and cut off the pin to the proper length with a cut off disc.

That would allow you to test for freedom of movement and ensure the center section is captured properly before you cut anything.

I actually used a piece of a 5/64 drill bit to replace my
Missing pin.
Mine is the Tobeco Nemesis.

Okay, for everyone that doesn't know or realize:

The Magnets do NOT need to go over the Pin - Nope, Nada, No way!

As long as the magnets fit the shaft, are not to thick and do not impede switch movement(hit body) they will work.

1) Place 1 or 2 Magnets onto switch and slide to bottom.
2) Place flipped magnet over shaft
3) Place Delron/Threaded section on shaft
4) Slip rice pin into place
5) Install top screw and tighten

Alternately you can reverse steps 3 & 4

Magnets ride under the Delron and pin.

I've been making copper pins for inside the button of Poldac clones using 12 gauge ground wire, have to chuck it up in my Dremel and take a few thousands off. So when my friend said he needed a pin for a Neme clone switch I just pulled out a short piece that was left over and made a copper one. I gave my friend the brass one and put the copper one in mine, works good.

This. It woked for me.

And my advice when modding things with a Dremel, or performing any other irreversible procedure: always grind/file/sand/mutilate the least expensive part. The one exception would be if the least expensive part does not have a readily available replacement, which promotes it to "priceless".

.

Yeah this step/these steps would't work for me as my rice pin was too large until I reduced its diameter. I could very well be misunderstanding what you're saying but I'm up and running so... Anyway big thanks to everyone who helped/replied. cheers.

Did your rice pin fit between the shaft and Delron/threaded section? Was it proper length = to thread section?
If so - the installation procedure is correct and should work for any Nemesis switch/magnet combo that fits.

Glad you got it going!
Enjoy the Vape :)
