Because I've never posted (just searched & read MANY pages), I can only ask my questions here in the "New Members" forum.

I've been vaping for over a year now, and would like to make my own e-juice. I've down loaded the "e-liquid Creator" xls file, (for the recipe by either "drops" or "ml" measurements) & checked out suppliers for the nic juice. I'm ready to buy & mix.

I really like this downloaded spreadsheet because I'm Excel savvy myself BUT, I can't get a handle on the answer to these questions-

What kind of "Commercial e-liquid" (mentioned in the chart), does it assume I'm going to use?

And, If I use a nic juice that is 100% PG based, then do I need to buy double the mG strength in order to add the VG in order to get the proper ratio (50 - 50 since I mentioned "double"), and vape qualities?

This excel chart is a great recipe for a beginner! (The other charts online don't work on my browser), I plan on making my own flavors, and I understand that a 40% VG to 60% PG is "average", but when you start out with a "Commercial E-Liquid" that is already mixed with PG, this chart doesn't seem to make sense to me.

I'd like to buy the nic juice at 60mg & PG based, since PG is harder to get and VG is so easily available. I like about 15mg to 20mg nicotine level.

I'm really good at percentages, and understanding recipe amounts, but using this spread sheet is confusing me, lol!

I appreciate your advice!

Well flavoring is usually in PG and flavoring will compose 5-20% of your liquid depending on how strong the flavoring is. So you may need nicotine that is more than 2x your desired juice nicotine level to accurately create a 50/50 juice.

Most use a combination of PG, VG, plus nicotine in PG or VG, and flavoring to create the nicotine level and PG/VG they want.

I use very thin juices, mostly PG for easy use in cartomizers, like 80PG/20VG. But some I drip are 50/50.

The eJuice me up calc does take into account if the nic base is PG, VG, or a ratio of the 2. If also takes into account if the flavorigs are PG based, VG based, or neither. It allows you to customize everything to make the exact juice you want and factors in everything so the end prOduct is actually the right mg and also PG/VG ratio.
Its very easy to use and works really well. Can you possibly use another computer from someone that could run it bc I think you'll find that calc much easier to use.

I bought all my DIY stuff from BlueMist vapor. Their prices are good and they have everything you could want and need.
They have many options for nic base and different size bottles. I got 120ml of 60mg/ml, but they also have higher and lower mg/ml and bigger and smaller size bottles. Their PG and VG are both super cheap, only $4, and they have an array of syringes, pipettes, empty bottles, etc. they also sell the flavoring for every juice they sell, which is over 250 juices, so you have a big selection to choose from. And they also sell all the extra stuff that isn't necessary, but can be a big help in making your juices better when you get more experience, like sweetner, menthol drops and crystals, liquid that produces a cooling effect on exhale, etc. I would def check BlueMist out.

Make sure you FULLY understand what your doing before you start. DIY is fun but can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. Nic base is no joke and will absorb thru your skin so do NOT get any on your hands. Also I recommend using syringes or pipettes for all your measurements, especially for nic base. Dropper bottles can vary and they arnt accurate.
I have 2 different dropper bottles from different places. One takes 18drops to equal 1ml, and the other takes 38drops to equal 1ml. That's over twice as much. That's why you need to be careful. I use a syringe for all my measurements. If I was trying to make a 24mg juice and used dropped bOttles and accidentally used the wrong one, I easily could make a juice that was closer to 50mg/ml when I thought it was 24mg/ml. That's why you have to be careful and that's why I recommend using syringes so you know everything is accurate. And also ALWAYS double check ALL your inputs on the calculator so you know their right.

DIY is alot of fun, but make sure you know what your doing

Thank you all! These calculators are wonderful, but, what if the base nicotine is already PG based? I must be missing something, & I apologize in advance for not understanding this, but, if my nic juice is already 100% PG, how do I input this? In other words, I don't want to add anything but VG & flavor, but need to achieve a 60/40 ratio of PG/VG & 15mg to 20mg nicotine level.

No calculator that I've seen so far allows for the PG that's already in the nic juice.

The ejuicemeup calculator allows you at the very top to enter the percentages of PG/VG in the starting plain nic base. Unless you are going 100 percent one way or the other you may have to tweak it with both ingredients to get the percentage you need.
