If you are speaking about what I think you are, there is a fiberglass wick under the metal mesh bridge in your atomizer.
Some people advocate removing this for better vapor production.
Some have done so and succeeded and some have and damaged their atomizers since it is connected to the coil as far as I can tell.
It is used to help wick the juice to the coil and keep it moist.
I think that the discrepancys in assembly might make it possible for some to be in there loose enough to be removed with out damaging the coil but others are tight enough for you to either break the coil or pull it loose when removing.
Also it may be possible for the bridge in some to be close enough for the coil to stay moist with out it which would explain why it works for some and others have their coils burn out after initialy getting good vapor or imediatly after removing it.
After that lengthy explination it might be best to let your atty break in first and if you want to try make sure you have some spares with the understanding the one you try it on may not work after.

I wouldn't do it. Those fibers are there to wick the liquid to where it belongs. If you are having vapor production issues, there are other things to look at first...

* Is it a new atomizer? The 510 seems to have a break-in period of a few days.
* What juice are you using? This can have a significant effect on both vapor production and throat hit.
* What isn't satisfying you? There are a number of things which may be causing issues, such as a bad atomizer, pulling too hard, battery not fully charged, etc., which will effect how it feels. Narrowing down whats not satisfying that makes you want to effect a change will help narrow down potential issues.
