I have freshly charged batteries and the brand spankin' new attys that came in the kit.

and a brand spankin' new cart.

But not much vape? :(

since im such a newb im thinkin' that I overlooked something.

Relith - first, welcome to the forum....

Most attys have a 'break in' period - this might be what your troubles are - you simply need to work with the atty more.

Other suggestions, and bear in mind that I don't have your model so I can only speak from what I've heard others say....try a drop or 2 of niquid directly on the atty - this might prime the pump, so to speak.

I believe you have an exposed atty, as opposed to the enclosed ones I use - if this is the case, you can also dip....take a contact lens case, fill with liquid, and dip the bridge of the atty directly, slip on the cart cover, and vape away.

Keep working with it - it will get better with time....

Welcome to vaping.

I found this is especially true with the most recent 510's, too.

Relith - Just stay with it and you will find a groove that suits your vaping experience best. And great choice in the 510 BTW.

Welcome to ECF! :)

wow! thanks for the quick replys! :)

@Vicks Vap-oh-Yeah
I believe that I do not have an exposed atty as it is quite far back within its casing.
But as soon as my liquid comes i will try the dropping straight onto the atty method.
(should be here by the end of the week)
Thanks! I will continue to work with it, finding out how it acts. :)

@Tyson
at first I was inhaling really slowly because of all of the videos i watching on youtube.
but now I think I have it down. never inhaled too fast (atleast I dont think so.)

@Both
thanks for all the help! :)

Im going to keep working with it, with the remaining carts i have l left until my liquid comes. then try that.

im thinking it might just be because my carts weren't as full as I thought when I got them, or they dont last as long as I thought.
This is all quite new, and as I know the general workings of all the parts, im sure i dont know all the subtle workings.

Thanks again! :)

Relith

i couldnt find the edit button, so sorry for this double post. :p

wow again! i didnt see anyone elses reply's.

After looking through a ton of reviews, and reading a ton of threads I decided (a long with many MANY others) that the 510 would be the best.

altho i hope I havent taken off more that I can chew, as alot of people say that the DSE901 is the best to start of with.

well i just saw that towards the bottom it says what you can and cant do and i "may not" edit my own posts. :p

so i guess ill have to triple post with my next question. :(

anyways,

vape wise:
i find that the first puff or 2 are the most/best and then it gets less/worse from there.

my method is simply to take 4 second draws (i timed myself) with about 5-10 seconds inbetween draws. and after about 4 of those there is not much vape at all so i stop.

I started with the Joye510 as well, and it does take a little practice to get the right rhythm going. I generally take one, long, slow drag... then I set it down for several minutes before taking another. Generally.

In the mornings, when my nicotine "needs" are at their peak, I will use it more frequently. If I feel like it's weakening, I'll top off the cart with a drop or two of liquid (and/or a drop or two on the atty as well).

It's taken me a couple of weeks, but now it's a piece of cake. I can tell when the atty needs cleaning or swapping, I can tell when it's time to change batteries, and when to top up, etc. I have a little "Hello Kitty" pencil case that I use for my supplies when I'm on the road (the FDA would undoubtedly ban me for using a "Hello Kitty" case).

You'll get there... just takes a little time and practice.

I hated my 510 when I first bought it. It tasted ****ty, and produced poor vapor. Check out the 'straw mod'. This allows for greater airflow, and easier cart refilling. Also ditch the round mouthpieces, and get some whistle-tip, like for the 901. You may have to sand them down a bit for them to fit. Just stick them in the chuck of a drill, and apply an emery board.

Now my relationship with my 510 is akin to a love-affair. (And skip the USB passthrough, it is a POS... spend the extra cash on spare batteries, and another charger (think about a DC adapter too).

Ruyan sells starter kits for $33, that is an economical way to built your supply. They also have DC adapters for $2. Now if only they sold VG-based liquid...

Hello Relith:

It is sounding like the cartridges are too dry. The 510 likes a nice wet cartridge to make all that vapor. When you get your bottle of liquid you will be able to top up the carts. I wouldn't run the atomizer dry, you could damage it.

Also, do you have manual or auto battery? With a manual battery you press the button 1 second before inhaling and release 1 second before you stop inhaling. Thus you are preheating the atomizer before, and cooling it in the end.

Welcome to ECF. (the collective brain.)

@Peacock
I am doing that button thing. Darn i thought that i had thought that up. :(
I guess other vapers had that great idea before i did. lol
but ya its definitely that the carts are too dry.
Thanks!

@Salt
why are the whistle tips better?
I looked up the straw mod and that definitely looks like a great bloody idea.
one question about that. do you take the straw out after youre done fillin'er up?
or do you leave it in while you vape?
Ill definitely check out Ruyan. do the DC charges refer to car adapters only?
or is there another type of DC charger,
(probly not since the wall plugs are all AC, youd need a converter.)
as I wouldnt really have a use for them. I dont have a car, just a motorcycle.
Insurance was just to expensive for me and my wallet was always feeling light. :p
so now i pay $100 a year on insurance for my bike, and about $6-$9 a week in gas!
haha! and it bods quite well with the ladies! ;)

Peacock is that youre bike in your avatar? is that you? cant tell for sure cuz of the
low quality pic, but it looks like a Ninja 500, or maybe one the the new 250's
im gonna guess a 500. :p (hope im right)
either way great choice! my friend had a 06 636. green. it was awesome!
got to ride it a bit, wish i had that kinda money laying around like he did!

Thanks for all the help fellow vapers! I just went over to my friends house and showed'em the new 510! at first they were freaked out by the whole inhaling nicotine
vapor thing, but they smoke reg cigs, so i told them that they do that anyways, pretty much, and worse with all the 4000 chemicals companies put in their cigs.
After a while of explaining i got them to warm up to it and try it. with a fresh cart of course.

They thought it was awesome!

im spreading the word. :p

Definitely some great advice here Relith

You made a very wise choice to go with the 510 :thumb:

Keeping the cart topped off with liquid and dripping a few drops on the atty occasionally is important.

I use the 901 carts with the tapered tip with my 510 and not the rounded tip 510 carts.

All I do to get the 901 carts to fit on the 510 atty is just wiggle and squiggle and push til it's on. You only need to do that the first time you use that cart. Then it pops on and off nicely.

Did you get a 510 passthrough? It's great - you always have a battery 24/7.

Good job - keep spreading the word!

Relith:

Why yes, it is my bike.....Funny thing about the newer Ninja's.....short of an AMA-style teardown, there's almost no way to determine engine displacement by looking at the bike. So I'm just not tellin the size. Tee, hee.

Let us know when you get your liquid if that is the problem you've been experiencing.

Best to you!

Hey Relith- I posted a thread asking folks how long do they vape before topping off each cart with e-liquid. I am expecting some to arrive today from e-smokey treats. The cart that came with my 510 only gave me 3 to 5, maybe 6 good drags and the rest just had a very faint flavor.

I stuck a small piece of pressure air cleaner tube (the little red tube it comes with) following the directions of the mod and you do in fact have to leave the stick in there, but you have to make sure it is pushed in well bellow where it won't touch or get too close to the atty otherwise that spells disaster to me. Even though I didn't have my e-liquid yet, I could tell the few drags I took got better and managed to get 8 out of these carts. The tube needs to be thin, not every coffee stirrer works, some are too wide. I heard that if you can stick a toothpick inside of it, it is too wide.

@Peacock
well im gonna guess that its a 250 then, since you wont tell. heehee.
ive got a 1975 cb400F. i put a ducati style racing seat on it, a kerker pipe and
some cooler looking headers, and i put the handlebars on upsidedown to give it
a cafe racer style look. its old but very cool, so people have said.

@Huma
I will try that straw mod on atleast one of my carts to see how good it works.
Then on the rest if im happy.

Cant wait for my juice! :w00t:

I'm another noob learning a lot here. I just go my 501 and am lovin it. Looks like I might have to get a few more extra spare parts. One of the problems I'm finding in my brief experience (2 days) is trying to remember where I left the darn thing! Maybe this has been discussed before but I was just wondering if there's some kind of pen clip or something like a neck strap. Most of my clothes don't have pockets.

This is what you get to look forward to when you get old! Also what do you use to pack this stuff up in when you travel. Any suggestions are welcome. :confused:
